AMAZING!!!
This place is actually fantastic and Dr. Melanie Carminati is a neighborhood gem. Melanie moved her office to Park Slope this summer from Carrol Gardens. I came here after a terrible experience at another place and I am so grateful they are now in the neighborhood.
The entire process from start-to-finish was seamless and professional. The office staff helped me get an appointment earlier than normal because I was post-op (I had just undergone surgery for a fractured humerus/elbow) and this healing time is crucial. Most other places in the neighborhood wouldn't book me for another month and Inspira got me in the following week. I received all forms via email: intake forms, detailed instructions on how to work with insurance, and an electronic invoice. This was great, because it meant I could be taken immediately when I arrived for my appointment without waiting or sitting in a waiting room filling out annoying forms.
I was immediately greeted by Melanie after checking in. She led me to the back where she sees patients in a private room. I was happy to see this, because PT can be nerve-wracking and I wasn't sure how much pain I was about to experience. It was also nice to get her full attention. Right off the bat, she started explaining everything to me from a medical perspective in great detail. She explained how the body works, that the elbow and other joints have capsules surrounding them, how the connective tissue works, etc. She also explained that we will need to work on my neck, shoulder, and elbow, because they would have all been affected as a result of the accident. This additional information about the process really helped me ease my nerves.
The treatment was extremely gentle and thorough. The entire time, Melanie communicated to me what was going on and why she was doing certain things. She alternated between gently massaging my arm and stretching over an extended period of time instead of forcing my arm open over a short period of time. The stretches hurt, but her method of therapy made it so that it was bearable. I walked in with a 40 degree angle in my left arm and she got me all the way to 25!
Her bedside manner is also as calm and gentle as you can possibly get. She gave me several exercises to do at home and helped me schedule me for appointments for the next few weeks to ensure that I get the treatment I need during this crucial time. I am coming back tomorrow.
I highly highly recommend coming here. Dr. Melanie is extremely kind, intelligent, helpful, and skilled at what she does. I had a hard time getting an appointment in the neighborhood at some of the more well-known places, but I am glad I came here. This place is as...
Read moreMarch 18th was my first visit to Inspira Physical Therapy, it is now June 26th and I have now finished my program with Dr Kylie. I was diagnosed with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) in April 2024 and went to physical therapy places who were not able to comprehend POTS, nor treat it. I happened to stumble across this lovely place during my research and I could not have been more lucky. During my consultation phone call, I remember Dr Kylie saying she will help me reclaim my life back and she really has! She immediately made me feel so comfortable and made our sessions fun and entertaining, as well as educational and helpful. She truly cares about her patients and understands them. My personal POTS program helped me tremendously. Kylie helped me focus on pacing myself so I could function properly and enjoy life, as well as challenged me to do my best with the exercise she tailored specifically towards my needs. She spent many sessions doing hands-on work that always made me feel better and helped relieved leg pain. She helped guide me down a path where I feel comfortable enough to embrace my life and have tools in place for situations that can cause a flair. The staff at the front desk were always so helpful and kind. I cannot recommend this place enough! They truly care for you and make you feel extremely welcomed. Starting physical therapy can be scary and setting goals can be even scarier, yet, Kylie helped me through every step of the way and I am...
Read moreI started working with Mila at Inspira almost a year ago, and she has helped me tremendously through chronic back pain. I started out as her PT patient, and she expertly explained why I was having some of the issues I was having and showed me how to change my posture to correct them.
Eventually she helped me learn how to use the Pilates reformer, and I started attending her beginner group classes once a week. I’ve never been excited to exercise in a class environment, but attending Mila’s sessions has been so helpful and educational. Even when I came in in pain, by the end of the class I feel I have worked most of it out of my body.
The exercises are appropriately hard, and Mila is an extremely competent teacher. She corrects your posture/positioning frequently, but always kindly, and modifies the exercises to suit your specific needs. Never once has she made me feel embarrassed, stressed, or pressured into moving a certain way.
If you are interested in moving your body in a healthy and productive way while taking care of yourself, please do not hesitate to go to Inspira! I am moving soon and will miss them a great deal! Thank you, Mila and the Inspira team, for all you’ve...
