Jack’s Art Gallery is the first place that comes to mind when we need pictures framed. They make an impression with their expert knowledge of the craft, the high quality of their work, and the general excellence of their customer service—so much so that even though we moved to another part of town (with a good half-dozen picture framing businesses in our neighborhood), we still make the trip to the UWS to have them do our framing.
We most recently went to Jack’s with a couple of thangka paintings from a trip to Nepal. They spoke with us in detail about our desired result, considering frame thickness, texture, pattern, and color combinations as well as the question of matting to balance some of the slightly off-perfect lines of the free-hand-painted edges.
In the case of one of the paintings, a depiction of the Kalachakra Mandala (a square-shaped work that might look to some like kaleidoscopic geometry), they made sure to confirm its orientation so the hanging wire could be appropriately affixed to mount the picture the right way up. (We had totally forgotten to address that earlier.)
The result of this attention to detail was a framing job that elevated the aesthetic of our pieces. But of course we knew to expect from past experience that we’d be happy with their work.
It’s always a pleasure to work with pros, when you’re lucky enough to run across them. Much appreciation to the good...
Read moreI truly cannot say enough good things about Jack’s. I was reluctant for a long time to get professional framing done because I knew it wasn’t cheap and I thought I could just do it myself. However, after I finally decided to try a frame shop, I came to Jack’s and all I can say is it is worth every single penny. I am incredibly indecisive, and I am always in AWE at their patience and kindness as they help me decide what frame I want - one time I spent over hour picking out one frame and asked to see pretty much every frame sample in the shop, and it truly felt like they were as invested in finding the right pick as I was. I have gotten many pieces framed at Jack’s now, and I think the best part is when I go to pick them up - it’s like Christmas, and they always unwrap the job to look at it with me and it truly feels like they are as excited as I am (if you have any doubt, you can see it in those smiling eyes in the picture)! I am just so thankful to have found a place that does such exceptional work, fairly priced, and where I truly feel like they treat me like family. I can’t recommend it enough - if you’re debating whether to finally get that print or photo you have stuffer in a drawer somewhere framed right, go! Go now! You...
Read moreThis is a true family owned business with an integrity of being in NYC for a long time. Everyone at Jack’s Art Gallery is so nice. And I especially appreciate them spending close attention and time to take a look at every piece I got framed there. They treat every item/work being framed as valuable with respect. Yet, they have a way of making the process uncomplicated.
I got about 5 art works and 5 diplomas framed at Jack’s from 2021-2024. They gave great suggestions from frame choices and method of framing depending on the medium of the work. I had a painting on canvas, got it stretched and framed in American Oak. The frame was very high quality. I cannot imagine this work being framed in any other way.
I also had 40” x 30” original print by Karina Bania floated and framed with light box effect with 3/4 inch space between the work and the glass. The job was done so clean that the framing made the work look...
