This place is great, JD's the best! And the T.Square store is like the Crown Jewel of their chain of JD Sports stores around NYC, this one has the best and biggest selection. And though I have a hard preference for Nike's, I seriously appreciate how this place has shoes and products from many different companies and brands.
So...a lot of negative comments have been said/made about the workers here, and I'd like to give a different take on that, based on my experiences here, and in many other facets of modern society. Yes, people working in Sneaker stores are very often youngsters, in entry-level positions, with no work experience. I think people who go in there expecting Macy's level customer service and training are both setting themselves up to feel disappointed, and just pushing those young, unseasoned and unskilled employees, further into their bad behavior or perceived 'rudeness', just from being on the defensive. Our society as a whole is in transition. Those entry level jobs in NYC are now paying nearly $20 p/hr to start, with benefits; and employees are realizing greater rights, broader protections and more power each month, as are many racial and ethnic minorities. Everyone is still getting used to the new power dynamics, and if we all remember to just breathe and look at thinks from both/all sides, then try to think if your words and actions are helping, or are you just venting and enflaming things? We can look around our neighborhoods, schools, shopping centers or watch the news any day, to see how much our city, our world has changed; and is changing and see all the ways we still need to change more. Times of transition are usually a bit frightening and uncertain, turbulent even. But are you being a like a doula out in your community? Are you, in your day to day life, trying to help? Or are you you trapped in a vortex of unrealistic expectations, fueled in part, by our collective privilege, yes, ALL OF US, Black, White, Brown, etc., being spoiled from having lived so long in the 21st Century New York City, ( The Capital of Capitalism) with 19th Century labor laws, where the customers are always right, and the workers are always powerless, desperate and eager to please. Those days are over, or ending fast. But the longer we stomp our feet and complain, instead of working to make this transition as smooth, orderly and as productive as possible, the rougher the road is gonna be.
Now, back to the footwear; I really like the new Nike VaporMax Plus, "Work Blue" color..., but I can't spend $210 (+ $18 in taxes) when I can get 2 other pairs of kicks, for under $200. Well, $190 + taxes comes to $206. And once again, I'm really lovin' the wide selection of kicks and clothing that JDs...
Read moreThe customer service in this store is so horrible. They don't deserve even one star. They hire young, rude, no manner and a liar customer service. The manager of this store literally needs a lot of training on how to handle staff who is a big liar with bad customer service skills. I went to this store to look for shoes after work and it was a huge mistake. I tried two shoes and didn’t like how it felt on my feet so i saw another sneaker that i would like to try and ask the customer service for my size. The customer service had a very bad attitude and she dared to ask me if I wanted to buy the shoes before she even gave me the shoes that i would like to try when I asked for assistance. She gave this look that has very negative connotations when she asked me the question. First of all, its none of her business if i want to buy the shoes or not, her job is to assist customer. I can understand if at the end customer service will ask the customer if they would still want the shoes after trying (regular question), but the girl asked me if i wanted to buy the shoes even before I had my shoes size and tried it on. Very rude. Why she asked me that question before I even tried the shoes on? So ridiculous. I’ve never in my life been asked a question like that when i am shopping for shoes. When i told her it was a rude question and the manager came, the girl lied to her manager and dared telling a lie right in front of my face that she was only asking about the shoes size. The manager told me there was a miscommunication while there was no miscommunication at all. I understood very well what the girl had asked me. She didn't even apologize for asking such an absurd question. The store seriously needs to train the staffs in their customer service skills before any law suit comes their way. This girl has no-idea that her question can be categorized as racial profiling. She probably thinks i am a tourist and don’t speak English well. Stay away from visiting this store. Will never go back and will tell my colleagues to not go to this store. I am reporting this business to the state for discriminatory and...
Read moreAt first, we were surprised by the vast variety of cool shoes presented there and the staff seemed friendly. However, on the next day when we made up our minds to go there to buy some shoes for our friends we were completely disappointed. To begin with, everyone (I mean the staff) looked down on us like we stole something or our reputation was too low. Secondly, when we asked one staff member whether we could measure the length and width of the insole of the shoe, they started to be aggressive and even rude. The staff member showed us that we were unwelcome there and did everything quite reluctantly. (Before I begin the next part of our experience, I would mention that we were choosing the shoes by the length of the insole as the sizes in our home-country and in the US are quite different) Thirdly, when we asked for another size of the shoe (it was our SECOND request, not the fifth or the tenth) the staff member showed member brought it and added, that it was the last one because “the staff couldn’t find the smaller one… but it is showed in the app”. We were a bit shocked but it was not that bad. After that, the member told us (quite in a rude way) to take all the shoes back (there we 2 of them, 2 SHOES OF 2 SIZES, NOT EVEN 2 PAURS!). At this point, we left that part of the shop, placing the shoes to their place. Further, we asked another worker to bring a pair of shoes of the same size as on the stand. And guess what? We waiting 10 minutes for her to come and 10 more for her to talk with another staff member. In the end, at the check out desk, we had literally no choice! “Wanna a receipt?” and the cashier presses a button “printed receipt”, however we did not answer. The same thing was with questions “How was your experience?” and “Do you need a bag?”. Fun fact! The staff presses “service was perfect” (or 10/10) automatically, so there is no choice again! All in all, if you have never seen people who hate their job (and the customers, you as well), it is a perfect place to visit! If not, do not go there, just buy the shoes in brand shops or in...
