absolutely do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. to say i am disappointed with my experience is an understatement.
for my 19th birthday, my friends & i decided to come to this restaurant. we looked at the menu & saw the expansive menu with very reasonable prices.
the first issue, finding the restaurant. there is no sign outside, & we had no idea that it is inside a hotel. so we walked by almost three times before we realized.
when we got there, we were seated immediately but we had a reservation. we did noticed that the restaurant was almost completely empty, & it was a Friday night. when we sat down, it took us about 10 minutes before a waiter came over. almost immediately he began pushing us to buy a bottle of wine, although we had told him multiple times that we were underage.
the second issue, the menu. my friends & i walked in already having an idea of what we wanted due to the menu on the website. so come to our surprise when almost nothing on their online menu is on their actual menu. everything was extremely over priced & had little to no options. when we asked the waiter about it, he had an attitude & almost immediately dismissed us. we ended up ordering three salads, & decided we'd go somewhere else.
the third issue, the service. when we placed out order, the waiter immediately gave us an attitude, ripping the menu's out of our hands. five minutes later came out the salads, & he threw them on our table, walking away without saying a word.
the fourth issue, the food. our salads were plated horribly, with literal cheese slices on the salads instead of nicely chopped up. my plate was overflowing with ceasar dressing, to the point that it was on the bottom of the plate, getting all over my hands.
when we finished eating, the waiter threw our check at us, automatically including a tip of 25%, which was not deserved at all. then the manager comes over, says "hi ladies, how was dinner?", & walked away.
my friends & i have never left a restaurant so fast, & ended up going to Chick-fil-a down the street. this restaurant is one of the worst i have been to. highly disrespectful & very different from what they show online. save your...
Read moreOkay...full disclosure: Today I took my friend to PAUL’S ON TIMES SQUARE. I’m a guy, and she’s a girl. She told me she never does anything like Groupon. So I was nervous right off the bat. I was late (my bad), and so she had to wait outside the Hilton for about 20 minutes. She texted me saying “,Why are we eating in a hotel on 42nd Street?!” I answered “,Because it has over 4000 reviews online with about a 4.5 star average!” I finally got there...and we took the elevator up to the restaurant. As we were escorted to our table she whispered “,Hmmm, nice place!” (It has large windows with lovely views, perfectly cut fresh flowers on every table, crisp white linen table cloths, etc). Our waitress was named Grace, and she is amazing! She patiently explained the menu, and how our Groupon works. She is well spoken with a lovely accent, beautiful, and made us both feel very much at home! With our Groupon we each got to select our choice of a salad, appetizer, or fresh made pizza. Then we also each got to select an entree from the nice pasta list. My date chose a Maragrita Pizza, and I chose a fresh sliced tomatoes and homemade mozzarella cheese salad. Both were amazing looking and even better tasting. My date was shocked at how perfectly the pizza was prepared...served piping hot and I tell you what—pizza doesn’t get any better! For our pastas she selected the homemade pasta with mushrooms and truffles in a light cream sauce...and I chose the seafood over pasta in a red sauce. Man, mine was off the charts good. A lot of fresh seafood...cooked perfectly...a delicious tomato sauce with just a touch of heat. Her pasta dish was delicious, too. Grace, our waitress, was attentive and kind the entire meal- making sure we were pleased and had everything we needed.
Loved this experience! My date just texted me and said “,Wow! Who knew you can get amazing pizza in a hotel in Times Square!” That about says it all. Thank you to Grace, and also the chef-and by all means go and enjoy a...
Read moreWe got the Groupon deal which for $45 is two aps, and two PASTA entrees. Just a note that this place was not very easy to find. We knew it was at the Hilton Garden Inn but you walk in and there is no signage and you are just left to figure out where to go. We went to the lobby floor and got directed there but that can be confusing for guests.
We did have a reservation and were promptly seated. I personally did not like the seating. We were just inches away from another couple on both sides of us, there really wasnt any elbow room.
The biggest reason that I gave this restaurant two stars was the service. Our server came over to take our order and that was literally the only time we saw her. No one came over to ask us if we needed anything else, ask how everything was, etc. I had to flag down a bus boy to get our check. I think she knew that we were using a Groupon, but then again, I saw the people next to us ( in both directions - using the same promo ) When she came back with the bill looking for a 15% min tip I was rather surprised. ( that would have been about $15, which I think is a healthy tip for just taking someones order )
The food itself was ok. The bolganese pasta I ordered was way over salted and the calamari usually has two dipping sauces and just came with a marinara sauce and was a little rubbery.
Overall I think it could have been a nicer meal if we were seated elsewhere and had a...
