I just realized that I already wrote a review at my last visit in NYC, 6 years ago ... I really love this shop. It's the best place to go if you are looking for genuine handcrafted items from Mexico – I found nothing comparable in Queens or Brooklyn. This time, I bought one of those colorful, traditional cotton blankets and an embroidered wool scarf. Plus a few smaller lucky charms. The items are all of top quality. The selection is huge and the objects in the shop are all truly handcrafted, not mass-produced. A handmade Mexican talisman will last a lifetime and has an important meaning, so it is an item that I don't like to order on the internet, but rather locally. So thank god this shop survived every crisis of the last years!
I was also able to chat with the owner, she was very nice and gave me great tips, for example for the Independence Day Parade, among other things. See you next time and thank you for bringing the color to Soho :-)

I was amazed that he knew about everything in the shop, considering how many items they sell.
It was a boiling hot day and there was no AC, so I thought I would pass out. Also, due to the shop's tiny size, it really doesn't work if more than two people are browsing at the same time! I am kind of surprised others took photos of the interior - Alfred was quite strict, telling me the owner doesn't like photos taken, but he allowed one. So this begs the question - did the others take photos...
Read moreThis shop caught my eye while I was on the way to another place a few blocks down, and I just knew I had to go back and go in there. I was really happy with that decision. I thought everything was really well priced (at least what I was looking at, it was typical /even bellow prices for things I could get off of ebay/etsy but have to pay shipping from mexico for). Floor to ceiling treasures, with little themed areas in the room. The store is so fun and bright inside, and the selection is massive.
Staff was exceedingly kind and I honestly CANNOT wait to come back in, this is one of my always visit stores now. I was so happy to find some items I'd been looking for. Plus they do...
