Laura African Hair Braiding — Local services in New York

Following up on my review of this terrible place.

Owner is only after money and doesn't care about service at all. As previous posts state the quality is terrible and they don't give you the style you ask for after showing them and explaining what you want countless times. I got a simple style that took them over 9 hours to do after the person styling my hair wanted lunch breaks and phone breaks.

Furthermore you call ahead and are told one price then show up and they try to charge you something completely else. It's overpriced for no reason.

The stylists have terrible attitudes and can't even braid. After only having this style for 2 weeks the back and sides are already falling out. This is not my first time coming here but it's certainly my last.

Please please look at other stylist. I originally didn't want to come here but chose it as a second option after my original stylist had a family emergency and had to cancel on me. So know before you go and looks at other braiding places in Brooklyn they really are some great ones this one just isn't.

The braiders don’t know how to braid, and they will lie to get your business. I called at 8am for me & my friend to come get our hair braided. The owner said “come with your friend, you’ll get a great deal”. We showed up at 10 & only 1 braider was available. She blow dried my friends hair & started the process. She told me that my braider will be there shortly. I kid you not, a whole hour goes by, another braider comes in and start servicing another client that showed up after me… I’m asking what’s going on??? Apparently they were waiting for the ONLY braider that knows how to braid “short hair”. None of the other braiders attempted to blow dry my hair, they just decided it was short & made me wait without saying anything. I ended up leaving without getting my hair done. 0/10 do not recommend

Edit* my friend sat in the chair for 10 hrs for mid back knotless braids & she said you kept stopping to do other clients hair. Also you had to redo the back because they were too...

Don’t go to this business for your braids, first of all they lied about what price they would charge me, adding on an extra $70 for the braids I got (which I had to get redone later that day elsewhere out of my pocket because they were nothing like what Laura said they would be). When I asked why they were $240 now instead of the agreed price, she said that this was the originally agreed price, which was untrue. She and the other woman started getting angry at me and telling me I had to pay right away or they would call the police. I reluctantly paid her in cash, crying because I was so upset and once she had my money she then got aggressive and told me “the Lord hates me” and that “I will burn in hell”, repeatedly.
