Would not go here anymore. This place has gone down hill, is more for show, and is no value for the price. $83 for a shave - they should be embarrassed. This was more now a marketing gimmick it felt like. First, the blade used was dull and had to ask the barber - a nice guy - to stop running over the same spots 4 times. And the steam machine barely reached your face/beard and was started when the shaving started. Not an upscale men’s barber. - not for a lack of a good guy trying to do what he could with what they had. Second the chair was super uncomfortable and not meant for a shave or to be leaned back. I mean seriously folks. Dont say it’s a place for a shave when the seat can’t even fall back properly with the head rest. But most of all - it was the most annoyingly loud, disrespectful experience bc of the employees. nice at the counter/while paying. But otherwise… they cared more about talking loudly and enjoying each other than any regard for customers’ sanity. They were just talking away, screaming about personal matters, parades, not having clothes for some date,… seriously?? it was a Sat afternoon but felt more like an obnoxious bar. conversation and laughs are fine. But seriously, folks were practically yelling - I was just itching to leave as it was a headache. If the vibe is supposed to be lively then great. But this was obnoxious. Then they charge $83 - a subpar shave, bad chair and loud employees. Again, very welcoming and nice when paying. But what they actually deliver was not close to the bill. If you want a real experience or want to relax, seek out another spot. Felt more gimmicky. The mgr should have a talk with their employees. Didn’t seem like they’d be open to dialing it down. If looking for a more real cut and shave this is...
Read moreRichard is an incredibly talented barber. I am extremely picky about my hair, and I after seeing Richard’s name in several positive reviews, I decided to give him a shot. I am glad I did because I now have my go-to NYC barber. I have medium length hair, and I wanted a cut that would allow me to have a little more control over my quiff (I was also looking for a little course correct over my last cut at a different shop, which took months to grow back out). Richard took the time to ask me detailed questions until he had a solid understanding of what I was looking for. He separated my hair and measured the sides before starting, and then proceeded to give me one of the best scissor cuts I’ve ever received. His attention to detail is a testament to the passion he has for making hair look great. It is one of the few times I have walked out of a barbershop standing a little taller with a smile on my face.
Beyond the cut, Richard is an interesting and wonderful human being, which made the experience that much more enjoyable.
It is worth noting that the guy in Richard’s seat before me walked away with a perfect fade - so it looks like he is skilled with shorter lengths too. But speaking from experience, if you take an unhealthy amount of pride in your medium length hair, trust Richard to knock it out...
Read moreI usually go there because of convenience, just next door. It's pretty expensive and with the 20% tip it's around $90 for a simple man hair cut. Quality is was always average.
This time, last week, was different. Went there, paid the usual $90 with tips went back home. My wife saw me and says "It's not even, there is a small area with 2 centimeters difference". I told her I would call them back whenever I get a chance but I had so much work that week that I was not able to do it.
Fast forward today, I call them, gently explain the problem. Just need 1 or 2 cuts; maximum work for them to fix it is 1 minute.
Answer I get "No, you took one week to come back to us, we can give you a 20% discount but not more".
Money is really not the problem. I give them 20% tip without any second thought. But as a principle, they screw up, they need to fix it. It takes 1 minute to fix the problem.
They just lost a...
