I had an incredibly disappointing visit to CityMD clinic today, and I feel compelled to share my experience. I woke up this morning with an excruciating pain and numbness in my right hand middle finger, which was bitten by some unidentified bug or creature. Concerned about the severity of the situation, I immediately rushed to the nearest clinic, CityMD, hoping for prompt medical attention.
Upon arrival, the two assistants at the clinic were initially friendly and attentive. I explained the situation to them, and shortly thereafter, the main doctor, Dr. Okafor (or whatever her name was), entered the room. She was a tall lady wearing glasses. However, my encounter with her quickly turned sour.
Despite my explicit description of the incident and my plea for help, Dr. Okafor barely examined my finger. She simply glanced at it from a distance and declared that it "looked fine" without even touching it or examining it carefully. I was taken aback by her dismissive attitude and lack of concern. I emphasized the potential danger of the situation, as I couldn't identify the creature that bit me, but she responded rudely, saying, "If you didn't see what it was, how can I know?"
As a medical professional, it is her duty to properly assess the situation, regardless of whether or not I saw the creature clearly. Dr. Okafor's unprofessional behavior and dismissive attitude were deeply disappointing. I expected her to provide me with some form of treatment or at least offer suggestions for monitoring my condition. However, she simply brushed off my concerns and insisted that I go home.
Feeling dissatisfied and worried about the lingering pain and numbness in my finger, I decided to call the main CityMD office to voice my concerns and request a refund. To my dismay, I was informed that an investigation would be required, and it could take up to three weeks. This response only added to my frustration and highlighted the lack of accountability within the clinic.
Unable to tolerate this subpar level of care, I have decided to seek medical attention elsewhere. My finger still aches, and the numbness persists, making me genuinely concerned for my well-being.
My experience at CityMD was nothing short of horrendous. Dr. Okafor's unprofessionalism and dismissive attitude were absolutely uncalled for. It seems that the clinic is more focused on monetary gain than genuinely caring for their patients. I strongly advise against visiting this clinic if you value your health and expect professional and compassionate medical...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about my experience here. I was injured on my trip to NYC and came here about an hour before closing. The receptionist and PA were so nice on the first day. I could barely walk and they helped me get to the room. It was almost closing time and they were still helping everyone and being so kind. The doctor was also nice but she only did an x ray, said nothing was wrong and sent me on my way. I was visiting NYC and had to walk 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back in pain.
I woke up the next day and the pain was so intense I couldn’t put any weight or pressure on it. I went back to this urgent care and the receptionist that was there that time was different. She was very rude and talking about people that came into the urgent care. It was extremely unprofessional. A couple from out of the country came in with travelers insurance and she was so rude to them I couldn’t even believe it. The difference from the night time receptionist to that day time receptionist was unbelievable. It was Christmas Eve and she kept talking about how she was ready to get off and how people were getting on her nerves coming in at the last minute as if there were not being people in the waiting room. I had to pay $120, $60 for the first visit and $60 for the second visit which I thought was a little crazy because it hasn’t been 24 hours since my first visit. I know here in my hometown if you go to the urgent care and you have to be seen for that same issue within 3 days, you don’t have to pay the copay again. But I was in so much pain I didn’t even want to get into it with them about it and was would be the point. If that’s their policy, they were only doing their job.
I was called back quickly and was in tears I was in so much pain. It was a new doctor and a new PA so they had to redo every thing. I’m glad they did because they were able to find the problem. They put this splint on my foot, a boot and a cane/crutches. They also gave me the medicine that I needed and recommended I see another doctor. I even got a call the next day for the appointment but I decided to wait until I got back in my hometown for treatment. The PA and doctor the second day were amazing.
I have mixed feelings on if I would recommend this place or not because it all depends on who is...
Read moreThis place is a very bright, open, and clean setting with friendly staff. The wait depends on the time of day: under 20 min if first patient, over an hour if around 5 pm. Unfortunately, the doctors are hit or miss. I've gone twice for different incidences of the same illness. I know my body pretty well, and I know the difference between a cold and strep.
The first time, Dr. Lee was incredibly professional with a great bedside manner. He was informative and took time. While the nurse took down my story in their computer before he arrived, Dr. Lee asked me again and really listened to my complaints. He asked about previous episodes, tested me, and treated me accordingly. I was very impressed with him, and I was hoping to see him again on my next visit.
The second time I visited, on a Friday after work, I got Dr. Paas-Holland. The nurse was very attentive and professional again. However, Dr. Paas-Holland was not. She did not ask me about my symptoms or history, relying instead on what the nurse told her outside of the room. She didn't listen to the circumstances surrounding my visit, nor did she care that I have been through this before with identical symptoms. She asked me unclear questions, which I don't hold against her since English is not her first language. However, she laughed at me and shook her head when I answered her question incorrectly. She ordered an inappropriate test and prescribed me incorrect treatment. She sent me home with instructions to tough it out until Monday and then fill the prescription if not better. Being fairly sure she misprescribed, I went to another doctor the next day, who properly diagnosed and prescribed treatment for me. She confirmed that Dr. Paas-Holland was wrong. I felt fine within 4 hours.
I would go here again, but I would insist on not having Dr. Paas-Holland. I might even call ahead to see if Dr. Lee is there, since I had such a great experience with him.
Urgent care is urgent. You need treatment. It's not something that can just wait until the next business day; if it was, I wouldn't have gone to urgent care but my PCP, who knows me and has a lower copay. Unfortunately I can't rate the doctors separately, and despite liking the joint, I can't give CityMD more...
