I am a proud Loulette bride! I went into dress shopping having no idea what I wanted and the Loulette team - Marteal, Sanaa, and Jillian - helped me find/ create the most perfect dress. It was important to me personally to find a dress from Brooklyn, but not only is Loulette BK based, the independent boutique also focuses on responsible, sustainable and inclusive fashion. S not only did I get the dress of my dreams, but I loved being able to support Marteal and the team’s approach to bridal fashion. The actual experience of going to the studio and working with Jillian to find the dress was truly one of the highlights of the wedding journey! The first trip she helped put me in the large variety of dresses Loulette has to offer and we began to narrow down the look I gravitated towards (A-line). The second trip, I went back thinking I was going to get “Nala,” but I wasn’t sold on the neckline for me. I really liked the neckline of “Jordan.” This is when Sanaa comes around and goes - that’s fine! We can create a dress with the neckline of “Jordan” and the skirt of “Nala.” Voila! My dress was created! Marteal kindly drew up a sketch so I could see what it would look like together. In short - they created a dress that was literally made for me. Not only did I positively love the silhouette, the phenomenal bustle of the skirt and let’s not forget the pockets (!). More than that, the linen organza fabric was simply STUNNING and COMFORTABLE. The dress is truly a work of art. But it was perfect for me as a bride that did not want to be overly “bridal." Every single one of the guests commented on how unique and stunning the dress was and many of my friends have said they want to get married all over again simply to buy their dress from Loulette. You can’t go wrong with supporting this amazing designer and team. The product is worth every reasonable penny and the experience makes it truly a journey to remember! Photo credit: Chelsea Bordonaro

For the future person getting married/If you care where your money is going, if you care about the environment, if you care about society, if you care about inclusivity, this is the place for you. From my first fitting, which I had to go totally alone because of covid, Marteal opened her doors like an old friend and I got to live out my 90s movie fitting room montage. She let me go over time, gave me her feedback when asked, and basically emotionally supported me, which is what every new bride needs in the process because it's scary knowing you're going to spend a lot of money on a dress and Marteal knew that. I knew right away going into this fitting that I would find my dream dress here and that I did. Not only did I find my dream dress, each dress is made to order and you can customize ANYTHING you want . In my instance, I made the train longer, and adjusted my slip. Things I hadn't even thought about but Marteal remembered a comment I made earlier on in our appointment and reminded me of. I also knew that I didn't want to do an outfit change but have some sort of fun reveal and the fringe jacket I got as well here did JUST that. Also something to note was my dress was all of 5 lbs- it was so light and fit comfortable the whole night even after dancing for hours upon hours. The dress was perfect. Also knowing that this beautiful piece of clothing donated money to an organization I am passionate about and planted a tree means the world to me. So Congratulations you're getting married! I hope this review has shown you that Loulette Bride is an insanely special place and any person (dang right any person because this place is so welcoming and inclusive) should add this to your list to make an appointment at because I want you all engaged people to know what it's like to have one step in your massive wedding planning process to be easy, and that is what Loulette bridal was for me.

When my wife and I started the process of shopping for our wedding outfits, we had no clue where to start. Neither of us had really envisioned what we wanted to wear, and neither of us are "shopping" people or even dress people. After extensive research into boutiques, we made separate appointments at Loulette. We were excited because they are queer friendly, represented all body types, had a variety of styles and outfits (including jumpsuits), and had a focus on activism. Loulette was the only place we could find where we already felt safe as a queer couple before we even walked through their doors. My appointment was first, and I was super nervous at first, but was absolutely blown away by how safe and comfortable I felt working with Jillian and Loulette. At first, I was leaning toward a jumpsuit, but I was open to trying dresses as well. Jillian chose a few that she thought would suit me, and she was spot on -- I immediately gravitated toward a dress that I never would have expected to choose. Even after trying on dresses at other boutiques, I knew this dress was the one and that I wanted to work with Loulette. My wife's appointment went similarly. Jillian knew what dress I chose, so she was thoughtful about recommending outfits to my wife that would pair well with mine. My wife also immediately found her perfect dress off of Jillian's recommendation, and they went together so perfectly. Throughout the fitting process, the Loulette team was so kind and helpful. They made us feel comfortable and beautiful. They customized our dresses to suit us best and listened to our feedback to make sure the final products were perfect, which they were. Their pricing is reasonable and fair. And, finally, we felt absolutely gorgeous during our wedding and got so many compliments from friends and families about our dresses. I can't recommend Loulette enough!

I could go on and on about how much I LOVE Loulette Bride. But to try and keep this from becoming a novel, here's my top 5 list:

1.) I researched a lot of bridal boutiques and designers because I didn't just want a great dress, I wanted to buy a dress from a great place and/or great designer. Loulette Bride met my needs ten fold. First, it's run by two kickass women entrepreneurs (who are also BFF). And second, they make everything responsibly and locally (which is really important to me)!

2.) The designer, Marteal, is fabulous! I don't live in the NYC-area, but after discovering Loulette Bride, she was willing to chat with me over the phone, exchange +20 emails answering all my questions about every dress and truly she went above and beyond anything I would have even expected out of a wedding dress shopping experience.

3.) Loulette dresses are gorgeous! I tried on over 40 dresses from lots of designers at many boutiques. But one day, I had the opportunity at a small boutique in San Francisco to try on two Loulette dresses and hands down both became my most favorite dresses out of all the others. I had a fun phone call with my mom and sister debating which out of the two dresses we liked more because both were so beautiful. Also, and probably most importantly, when I tried on these dresses it was the first time I felt beautiful in a wedding dress and like I could be myself.

4.) Sometimes, at some bridal boutiques, I felt a lot of pressure to purchase dresses out of my price range, but working with Loulette, there was absolutely no pushiness or pressure. When the initial dress I fell in love with didn't fall into my budget, Marteal didn't once encourage me to spend more than what I planned. Instead, she offered other options and discussed sample sale items with me until we found another dress that was also perfect. After deciding on THE dress, it had a train and Marteal offered to take it off for me (for free!) when I expressed reservations* about it. This kind of service is just unprecedented. *the train was gorgeous, but I'm a little clumsy and just wasn't sure I could make it down the aisle with it.

5.) I haven't personally met Mable, but I love dogs and if you follow @loulettebride on Instagram you'll see why this adorable doggo needed to make...

When I first started looking for my bridal “dress” I knew early on that I wanted something non-traditional. I knew I wanted a jumpsuit or flowy pant look, so I started scraping the Internet looking for one. I must have scrolled through thousands of images of bridal looks across Pinterest, various designers, and vintage shops with little interest in anything I found. It wasn’t until I finally found a pair of off-white wide leg pants online, that I thought I could explore custom bridal wear. I searched online for custom bridal designers in the NYC/Brooklyn area, and came across Loulette Bride and was immediately drawn to the “vibe” of the website, images of the warm and cozy salon, and the variety of the looks and fabrics from the selection of pre-designed dresses. A friend and I went to Greenpoint to meet Marteal. The salon is as beautiful and inviting in person as it looks online. All I needed to do was share a few thoughts of the look I was going for and some pictures from Pinterest for her to totally get the vision. She immediately got to sketching right away and within 20 minutes we had the look. From there, we went over to the dresses she had already made to get of sense of the different fabrics that would work for the custom bodysuit. I was in awe of her creativity and ability to take an idea I had in my mind and bring it to life. We created this look together that I absolutely love and could have never found online, ever after spending what felt like hundreds of hours looking for. To top it off, the pants I bought online had pockets (yay) but the fabric was a bit see through for a wedding. We thought we would have to remove the pockets but Marteal came up with a solution to add a thin liner to the pants which allowed me to keep the pockets! When you’re working with (M) it feels like you’re hanging with a friend, who is genuinely as excited for your special day as you are. She sent me home with a colored sketch of me in my full look which I’ve since framed. I love my custom bridal bodysuit – it’s a timeless piece that I’ll get to wear again. I couldn’t sing more praises for Loulette Bride,...
