I was over charged by over 200 dollars on my braids. I paid about $350 on my braids, and I have type 3b hair that is easy to braid. They also did not warn me of those increases in charges beforehand. I walked in thinking that I would pay $100 - $150 dollars max. My natural hair is easy to braid, but they charged extra, took over 8 hours on my hair when they should have taken under 4, and multiple different stylists were touching my hair without my prior consent. Only one person should have been working on my hair, but multiple people who took too many breaks were working on my hair. Hence why it took 8 hours. They straightened my hair without any heat protectant, and causing my hair severe damage. It falls out often, now. They judged me for having long hair, and my ethinicity (multiracial person). All I wanted was my box braids, and they judged me and my hair, damaged it, charged me extremely extra, kept me for at least 8 hours, and were absolutely unprofessional.

I normally ask my family to braid my hair, but they did not have time, so I trusted Madina African Hair Braiding to take care of it without any issue. I had such a horrible experience that I don’t want to try protective styles for a while. I think my hair can’t take it at all after the damage they caused.

Please do not go to this establishment. They are not...

I don't want nobody else to waste they time like I did. I went here and spoke to the same lady all the reviews was telling me to. the first time I went to the place I texted her and sent her a picture of my hair color she told me she had my hair color and that she was preparing the hair for when I come. she was dishonest and did prepare the hair instead she was braiding someone else's hair i ended up having to come back the next day, the next day I left work an hour early to make it to her before 5 because that's what she told me I called her on my way going there and she tells me she's braiding someone else's hair she didn't get back to me until about 8 went in at 8 a clock waiting for about 20 minutes and two people came braiding my hair I had finished in 2 hours. less than a week all of my braids are falling out one of them completely out I called her about two days later to tell her my braids were falling out i sent her pictures as proof she told me okay come in. I called her and she tells me I don't work for free in the mornings The Audacity Of her if you want to end up like me go ahead and go you'll see for yourself. I really wish I can upload auto sounds because all of my calls are recorded....

I am compelled to leave 4 stars for my experience with both Madina's (mother and daughter).as As a natural with a good amount of hair, I always anticipate a bit of difficulty, especially when it comes to getting my hair braided. I washed and braided my hair into four briads the night before (no blow dryer used) and arrived with semi damp hair. They suggested blow drying, but were receptive to both the fact that I dont use heat on my hair, and also allowed me to use the homemade products I use during styling. Due to the density and length of my hair, and "special request" if you will, I always tend to anticipate the price to change some upon arriving. I wound up paying an additional $10 which I was not bothered by. Young Madina was accepting of my coaching in regards to the best way to part, and gently manage through tangles. I definitely appreciate young Madina's patience, understanding of my hair treatment preference, reception to coaching, and overall pride and care she took in completing the style. It came out beautifully, and I definitely intend on returning. Outside of how hands on I needed to be and some minor back and forth, I would give 5 stars. Definitely...

I’ll never come back here. I wanted small straight back corn rolls. After I told them that I was sat down and my hair was blow dried, I kept asking for the price and they said wait until the owner comes out. She comes out and tells me it’s 100 dollars! I said absolutely not, I won’t pay more than 60 she said give me 70 and I said no so she stoped bargaining. The lady who started my braids did a nice job they were small then someone else came and did braids that were clearly medium-sized. I told her please do the other side with the same amount of braids she said okay. That did not happen, so she ended up taking the smaller braids out and combining them to match the medium size braids that she was doing. Extremely disappointing and dissatisfied. I love to support black-owned businesses but not if they’re going to treat their customers like this. I’m going to just get it done for half the price in my area of Jackson heights, Queens. These people are unprofessional. After I gave her the money, apparently she forgot and asked for it again. She had me nervous that she was going to say I never paid.

Sonya did my hair she was very fast and precise. The parts were very clean and the braids aren’t too tight. I came in at 9 and she started my hair right there and then and she was done by around 11:45

I needed to get my hair done but, my stylist wasn't open due to the lockdown in NYC. I did some research on hair braiding salons and I went with Madina. It was the best selection I did. She is a lovely person as well as her employees. Her establishment is clean and their work is exceptional. If you do not like the style, she will work with you to give you the style you desire. I been there two time since my initial time. Every style I came in with, it was done lovely. I HIGHLY recommend you to go to her salon.
