I recently had the pleasure of dining at Au Jus Harlem, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with a chic yet comfortable decor that makes you feel right at home.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the hot dog. I have tasted hot dogs all over New York City, and without a doubt, Au Jus Harlem serves the best hot dog in NYC. The bun was perfectly toasted, the sausage had an impeccable snap, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. Each bite was a perfect blend of textures and tastes, elevating the humble hot dog to a gourmet delight.
But it's not just the hot dogs that stand out. The entire menu is thoughtfully curated, offering a variety of delicious options that cater to different tastes and preferences. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring that every guest feels valued and well taken care of.

Read moreThere aren't many options when it comes to BBQ places in East Harlem, but rest assured, this one hits the spot. Their online ordering system is fine, but shows long lead times. For example, I had to wait 45 minutes to pick up my online order. Whenever I went in person, the turnover time was less than 10 minutes. I always find this place pretty empty, but is good for me, but probably bad for business.
The sides are decent at best. The mac & cheese was mid. The jury is still out on the fries, mine were soggy because that what happens to them in takeout containers, so I can't blame them.
Unsurprising, the meats are the star of the show here. Personally, I love the beef brisket. The Oklahoma burger was small but good as well. And of course, it won't be great BBQ with great sauce. Have your pick, you can't do wrong. This place would get 5 stars if they could step up their sides, but apart from that, it's a...
Read moreAu Jus is located on Lexington Ave between 100st and 101st in East Harlem.. It is small, yet cozy, and has been there several years. With that being said, I have tried their food twice, and I will never try again. Unfortunately, the food is tasteless and overpriced, and the portion sizes are very small. I ordered their flounder platter my second time ordering from them, and the back of my fish was soggy and tasted like frozen fish. I had their gouda smoked Mac & Cheese, which was cold and tasteless. And I had roasted red potatoes which had a little flavor but looked and tasted as if they sat around all day. Also, I noticed a 15% gratuity charge on my receipt for takeout.. Which is fine, but I think customers should know that they have to pay gratuity on takeout orders as well as dine-in. The food is too expensive!! Especially for the portion size and quality, I won't be eating...
