OWNER DOES NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was a loyal Frenchy customer and ordered from them almost every day (since 2020). 1 loved their items so much that I even recommended them to family members and friends. I typically ordered a couple of items from them to share with others. Recently, there was an uptick in sending me an incorrect or improperly made drink. It was starting to get a little frustrating. Someone advised me to request a refund if I receive an improper drink and hope that they start making corrections. So, out of dozens of orders in 2 months, I had to request a refund on 4 occasions. I did not request refunds for the entire order, only the affected drinks. After the final refund request, I noticed that they were not only canceling my orders automatically but also started canceling my father's orders (who has the same last name as me). A friend of mine told me that they had no issue. I ended up reaching out to Grubhub and then the restaurant. The staff member said verbatim, "The owner told us all to cancel your orders because you submit a refund request for every single order." It confirmed my suspicions because I felt I was possibly being punished for requesting refunds on the incorrect orders. I also was shocked because it was a blatant exaggeration and lie (there is verifiable proof that this is a lie). Out of the hundreds of times I have ordered from this place over the years, I have probably requested refunds less than 1% of the time. The recent uptick was due to receiving incorrect items (wrong tea, missing items within the drink, etc). You would think the owner would try to determine why a loyal customer starts to get dissatisfied and resolve the issue. Nope! Instead, they punish the customer for their establishment's mistakes. It's very disheartening as they have made thousands of dollars from me and my family. To be treated like this tells me that the owner does not value good customer service and only cares about profit. I do not recommend, and I hope they learn to treat their loyal...
Read moreWhat an amazing little slice of Paris in the heart of Spanish Harlem. I found this place an hour before hiking there from work during my lunch hour.....and my job is no where near here but I had a hunch (especially since I love all things French) that it would be worth the trip and I was right.
You walk in and it is pastry and coffee nirvana. Having been to Paris one two prior occasions I had that familiar feeling walking in with the scent of bread, fresh croissants, pastries and coffee tantalizing your sense of smell.
Perrine one of the owners (the wife) greeted me with a bright smile and her lovely French accent when I walked in. She was absolutely lovely and engaging with the small conversation we had together. Perrine made by far the best latte I have had since traveling in Europe.
I ordered the brown sugar maple latte iced and in hindsight I should have ordered two. I also opted to try the ham and Brie baguette which was warmed for me and was superb in every way from the fresh crunchy baguette to the thinly sliced ham with a whisper of Brie. I also ordered the cinnamon danish.
There are several seats inside and outside seating (available on warmer days). I loved the fact they had multiple French products for sale, from béarnaise sauce, pork liver confit, duck foie gras just to name a few items.
The only down side was it was extremely hot inside (not sure if this was caused by the oven or the heat was just cranked up high) but that's just a minor issue that is an easy fix.
I wish I lived in Harlem I would have Frenchy coffee on heavy rotation for my go to coffee and sweet spot. I know I will be back I loved...
Read moreNever had anything but an excellent experience here. Owners and service always go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Offering a wide selection of books to read, great playlists playing, and streaming tennis matches and other sports live on the projector, this is much much more than a coffee shop or cafe - it's a neighborhood hub! Routinely see other regulars here and the baristas always seem to remember their orders and names.
On the food and coffee front, you can not get better in East Harlem!! The coffee is excellent- from black drip to the flavored lattes. And the pastries ARE INCREDIBLE. Blueberry and cheese danish is better than anything I've had in New York, but it's impossible to go wrong with any of the selection. The soup and sandwiches made fresh taste more like home cooking than a NYC coffee shop :)
In terms of a rank among other NYC coffee shops I've been to, Frenchy absolutely takes #1! There's usually a trade-off for food/drink quality or vibe, but at Frenchy you get the best of both worlds - and then some!
Even if I move from the area, I will always keep coming back to Frenchy!!! So so grateful to have found Frenchy and all the people, coffee, and food that...
