Chiming in here to agree with Kavita below. My guy friend and I went for a massage yesterday (9/21/21) and it was a complete joke. While his massage (by a woman) was great, mine was the exact opposite. First of all there was a communication barrier because the “masseuse” did not speak English, so each time I told him to use less pressure he didn’t have the first clue what I was saying.
I literally couldn’t wait for it to be over! He never messaged my feet or hands and he did a ton of acrobatic moves with my legs that I’ve never experienced while having a massage. He used his elbow and forearm on my back and it was just strange and painful to say the least. I literally stopped him and said NO! This is not a place you’re able to relax at because there is really no separation between the front desk and the massage rooms. You can hear everything and I do mean everything! I heard the front desk employee each time they spoke to someone on the phone and tried to convince them to pay with cash, I heard the couple who came in and had mistakenly forgot their phones at home so they couldn’t redeem their Groupon and the front desk employee negotiated a deal with them. Remind you, I am getting a massage and hearing all of this! With this said, please save your coins and go elsewhere! This...
Read moreI booked a couples massage for my husband and I. We had completely different experiences. He loved his massaged. I was in pain the entire time just waiting for the massage to be over. I think the person who was doing my massage was not skilled or even understood which areas to rub. He was going over my spine with his elbow. I am still in pain two days later. It doesn't feel like the normal pain of a deep tissue massage. This feels like I was bruised everywhere. I tried to communicate during the massage but he didn't understand what I was saying. His partner had to explain to him a few times in their language.
Husband said he felt amazing after. His person did a much better job. She worked the areas that he needed. He said she used good techniques.
So altogether, it was a...
Read moreThe massage I received was good (though my masseuse kept leaving the room to talk to her colleague) but I will NEVER go back to Ming Spa again. Specifically because of the lady at the front desk who demanded a specific tip that I was not comfortable giving. I gave $20 and wanted change to tip and she took the tip she felt she deserved vs giving me change and letting me the customer decide. There are too many other great massage places in nyc (let alone on 72nd street) to put up with this aggressive behavior. P.S. wish I would have read reviews earlier as others have had this same exact experience. So much for trying...
