Edit: the jeweler is trying to bribe me to delete this review. Stay away from this business at ALL cost! Screenshot in photos.
I paid ~$100 for a resizing (down) and the jeweler gave it back with the jewels loose (literally rattling around), tilted, and with gaps between stones that did not exist before. I’m absolutely astounded at this lack of care and skill from the jeweler.
It’s one thing to make a mistake as a professional, but it’s another to not take responsibility for it. When I went in again and explained to him my concerns, he continuously insisted they were design mistakes from the original jeweler and not at all caused by him. This is simply false, given the fact that all the issues I listed can easily occur after a resizing (down) if not done with enough skill and care, and simply did not exist before I gave my ring to him for the resizing. He did take my ring again to “fix” what he claimed to not be his mistake, and made a big show of this being him going above and beyond to deliver good customer service, claiming most jewelry stores would charge me for this. Unreal. And in the end after the second attempt the same gem tilting and gapping problems still exist 🙄 I since also discovered that the band itself is not straight, meaning that during the resizing he left the section he modified bent.
I don’t appreciate being manipulated by a store owner in this way. If he had simply apologized and humbly corrected his mistakes, I would have very much appreciated it. I’m very disappointed in this lack of professionalism and skill from Montague Jewelers and would never recommend their services.
I am attaching photos that show the gapping between diamonds on one side and the uneven shape of the band after his...
Read moreI needed to find a jeweler to fix my grandmothers ring after I lost it and recovered it months later in the shower, totally waterlogged. I decided to bring it to Montague to have it resized and cleaned up and I cannot recommend them enough. This is such a precious piece and they made it look brand new and I can't even figure out how they resized it- there's no trace at all. It's absolutely perfect.
Ronnie is so helpful and so trustworthy that since then I've been back to have my grandmother's earrings converted from clip on's to post and he's going to tighten up the loose stone in my engagment ring too. Whenever I'm there he offers to shine up my other jewels so that they sparkle! I'm so grateful to have this family owned spot in my neighborhood so I don't have to treck to the city. They are truly the best and have such great jewelry there as well- will definitely be back for holiday...
Read moreSo far I've had two excellent experiences at Montague Jewelers. The first time I went in to ask about a ring that I thought was maybe missing a prong. They examined it immediately and concurred that one of the prongs was broken. They charged what I felt like was an exorbitant amount to fix it, but when I picked it up the following week, they had gone above and beyond - fixing not just the one prong but all of them, and giving the entire ring a thorough cleaning. It looked brand new again. I went in again yesterday to have them take a look at another of my rings, and slightly expected that they'd charge a similar amount no matter what. Instead, they assured me that the ring was in fact fine and the diamond secure; and then they cleaned it for free as I was standing there. It made it very clear that they're honest in their dealings and really value my business. Much...
