Went to New York City and was staying at the AC hotel across from MUJI SUX. On Monday 9/25, I purchased two umbrellas that were advertised on sale for $19.90 each bc it was raining. I didn’t realize that MUJI overcharged me in the amount of $25 for each umbrella until later that night. I went the next day first thing on Tuesday 9/26 right when they opened and this lady first told me oh no those aren’t on sale and so I took her to the sign. Then a guy came over and said oh yes those are on sale for $19.90 each so I asked if they could adjust the amount I was overcharged and give me the credit for the difference that they overcharged me. However they said oh no you need a receipt. I asked well my receipt is in my hotel but I have my bank account showing I bought them and the actual umbrellas. Pretty much every well known good place can look the transaction up by a bank card or something and make it convenient for the customer who was from out of town, had the 2 umbrellas, came right away less than 24 hours after purchasing the umbrellas etc. They said no, that they need a paper receipt and did not even apologize for their mistake in overcharging me. It is 2023. MUJI claims to be all advanced and sell advanced products yet still can’t do a return without a paper receipt especially when I’m visiting from out of town and have the two umbrellas and can show my bank statement. And had my bank card????. It’s funny and ridiculous too. I was going to go up to my hotel to get my paper receipt but then realized that time is more important. I’d rather spend time exploring the city, then go back to such a dumb store that operates in the ancient times with the worst customer service and return policy. I threw the umbrellas away and bought much better ones (the MUJI ones were cheaply made and sucked and not even worth $10) and we will never go to a MUJI...
Read moreWhen you first walk into the store, you are greeted with food. The aroma of the store is a strong citrus. You could buy clothing, art supplies, and home necessities and decor.
I don't know why I like the pens, they feel normal yet are expensive-ish. I mean, the best one is the calligraphy pen. Writing on the provided pad with many colors just satisfies me.
In addition to the satisfying part, I loved the diffusers and aromas. My favorite was the "Happy" diffuser, which had the fragrance of a nice citrus, not as strong as how the store smells. In contrast, I did not enjoy the Rosemary diffuser. Maybe personal preference, but whatever.
Ooh, also, don't mess with anything. The display, the stamps, etcetera. A family got yelled and had to pay for each item, as they were caught opening the stamps, even though THERE WERE MANY SIGNS SAYING NOT TO!
The clothing area is small, but still have great clothes.

Read moreI love this store! The staff is friendly! But I don’t like the way of the company’s higher ups treats their employees with such disrespect.
There was two incidents that I remember, the first incident was when I was shopping for a new pair of pants and I see that an employee coming up to their manager for a return and there was a short Asian lady with black eyeliner, who looked at the employee and was saying it in a bad way that they are busy and shooing her. I don’t know who the heck she is, but she shouldn’t be treating her staff like this.
And the other incident, I don’t like about that lady that she said something bad an employee’s hair. this shouldn’t be an issue and she needs to calm down. It looks like that the employees are terrified of her. I’ll be not shopping again unless it’s...
