I filed a disability claim in July and have encountered continuous delays, miscommunication, and negligence from this company. Despite my doctor and employer faxing the required documentation multiple times, it took over a month for the company to acknowledge receipt. I was repeatedly told they had all the necessary information, only to later receive letters stating more was needed.
Attempts to contact my claims manager were unsuccessful for over a month and a half. Eventually, I was assigned a new manager and filed an appeal, which was denied due to “lack of medical proof.” My doctor clearly stated I was restricted from operating heavy equipment, which is a core part of my logistics job. However, the company continues to claim—incorrectly—that my role does not require forklift operation, despite multiple documents proving otherwise.
I now face another deadline in a week, and my current claims manager is unavailable, with a promised callback window of 3.5 business days. This pattern of delay and deflection appears to be a tactic to avoid paying out legitimate claims.
I am requesting that this company be held accountable for its poor handling of my case, lack of communication, and refusal to acknowledge valid medical documentation. I am seeking a fair review and resolution...
Read moreWe've carried AARP New York Life Insurance for my Mother for her burial expenses for many years now. My Mother finally passed away a few weeks ago after a long battle with Dementia. We had to use a Credit Card to pay for her Funeral Expenses assuming that NY Life/AARP would be right behind us and reimburse us promptly. Instead here we are 4 weeks later, playing phone games and getting promises from John Hughes, Tampa District Claims Manager, that our check will be overnighted, after initially issuing the check to the wrong address. We've been playing this game for days now. Each day we are being charged more interest on our Credit Card as we wait for this check to arrive. I am beyond upset. My wife has hives knowing that we will be paying much more out of pocket (which we do not have), because of New York Life Insurance/AARP's inept lack of caring in what should be a simple transaction. Your company certainly did a good job cashing our premium check each month. Now that it's time to receive our payout, there is no help, no assistance, no check. I am disgusted. To anyone reading this who is choosing a Life Insurance plan, choose your plan wisely. Pick a company that has good reviews and that has empathy for...
Read moreNoticed my elderly immigrant parents NY Life whole insurance policy was still being charged when payments should have stopped. The agent, who spoke the same language as my parents, said it was due to the pandemic that he didn’t have this in place or made contact with my parents. He also said that what was done cannot be undone because he has to go into the office when specific people are there, but he hasn’t gone to the office in a long time and that my parents fully understand what the “agreement” says….I was actually calling him to get clarification because they didn’t know. The value on the “products” sold to my parents are well below what they have paid to date. Payments will now stop as they should have been done earlier. I’m not stopping here. I am also going to gather the paperwork and history to see how this can be...
