My 80-minute couples massage with a 30-minute facial felt more like a rushed 50-minute massage, and I have no idea how long the facial actually lasted. The advertised champagne? Nowhere to be found. Instead, we were offered a cup of coffee or water at the very end.
My massage experience was disappointing —the masseuse didn’t explain what products she was using on my face, and I didn’t think to ask (my mistake). Worse, the atmosphere was far from relaxing we could hear loud party music the entire time, either from the lobby or a neighboring business.
The facility itself was filthy. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting—comparable to a McDonald's rest stop bathroom, and honestly, some rest stops are cleaner than what I saw at Eureka Spa.
The treatment room was freezing. My partner had her heating pad turned on, so she was warm, but mine was off the entire time—I didn’t even know I had one! I was freezing throughout the massage. To make things worse, the masseuse applied cold oil to my feet when I was already frozen.
To top it all off, my masseuse had a string of hair stuck to her hand, and she kept brushing it across my face and lips while working. I kept trying to grab it, horrified at the thought of whose hair had just landed on my mouth.
Afterward, when the front desk asked how it went, I hesitantly said, "It was okay, but I think she enjoyed hers," referring to my partner. At that point, we hadn’t discussed it yet—turns out, she hated her massage too. She said it felt rushed, like a quick rubdown with sometimes warm, sometimes ice-cold oil. I guess the receptionist didn’t know what to reply because she just blank stared at me and told me to pay $12. Maybe it was because she had two clients waiting for their services and couldn’t get into it. She didn’t inquire. But I did let her know either the lobby music is too loud or someone in the neighboring apartments is blasting party music over the spa music.
I could go on, but you get the point. Save yourself the disappointment and...
Read moreSpa is small but pretty. Mask usage is dependent on the technician. Some have none, some just a face shield. I got 2 packages of 4 cavitation sessions, primarily with Paulina. Reception is friendly. First day I was made to wait 30 mins, because she didn't know my appt time. Sessions can be overly chatty or extremely silent. Another time, the client before me arrived over 30 mins late, and Paulina still took her, despite it being the start of my session. She told me "it's first come, first served" So why even give out appointments!?
Cavitation sessions are only 15 mins, but she checks her smart watch obsessively, several times a minute. It's both disrespectful and unprofessional. If a massage therapist can do an entire 60 min session without checking their phones, a technician can pay attention for 15 mins straight. Or they are in the wrong business. My last session with her she was a bit combative and went on a rant, saying I was "lucky" she started on time so I could make my other appointments! Bizarre. The session before she had the machine too high or didn't use enough gel, because I kept getting pain in the flanks. I had to ask multiple times not to treat that region but she spaced out kept doing it. Comparing this to a massage therapist, who actually listens to your pain complaints, care enough about the client, and pay close enough attention to their work not to re-injure the client.
The more sessions I got the more it hurt, which makes me think she was cranking up the machine high out of spite. 8 sessions and no change in lower abdomen, despite regular, vigorous exercise (1hr/2-3X a week) and diet. So, not something I can recommend, especially with...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to our 80-minute couples massage/facial combo for my husband’s birthday. We scheduled our appointment, even got a confirmation text the day of, showed up, and they said our massage therapists were sick and they forgot to tell us. Ok, fine. But they didn’t offer any kind of compensation for coming all the way from Queens, so I asked. She said a manager would call me about it, but no manager ever called me.
Then, I called to schedule our second try. I mentioned that I was still waiting to hear back from the manager, and she said I should just talk to the front desk person about it when I come. I asked if I could schedule for 11:00 and they said no, but they could do 10:30. We arrived at 10:30 and no one was there. I called, and she said they were stuck in traffic and she wanted us to wait inside the MacDonald’s across the street. (What?!?!) I didn’t want to do that, so they had the superintendent let us in and NO ONE ARRIVED UNTIL 11, which was the time we originally wanted in the first place.
Again I had to mention some compensation and they said they would add a mask to the facial, which, honestly, I assume was already included because what facial doesn’t already include a mask?
My massage was fine, but the “hot stone portion” was like less than one minute. My husband said it just felt like he got beat up for 80 minutes. He wasn’t even relaxed.
I’ll admit that the massage therapists were very apologetic once they arrived, and they tried to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, but unfortunately we won’t...
