I went here after seeing glowing reviews on social media and I was excited. I have been natural for 8 years and I’ve been the only one to do my hair and it’s been growing and getting super thick. I’ve been wanting to go to a curl specialist so I can get further education, and for someone to really get the most definition out of my curls.
I had a 2:30 appointment and did not leave until 7pm for a simple wash and style….. The person doing my hair was uneducated and did not know what he was doing. He took me to the wash bowl and kept telling me my hair is thirsty because I don’t use conditioner ( yes I do ) then I explained that I have high porosity and it’s always been like that and he proceeded to tell me that it’s bcz I’m bad at washing my own hair which I’ve been doing for 8 years and my hair was thriving. I just understood my hair and what it needed.
I was shampooed and conditioned and shampooed 4 times and then he asked me what I use to style and I proceeded to tell him that my hair needs a lot of humectant so moose and a humectant gels and string hold gels and he was like ok and at this point I was excited to see how my curls would look.
He then used a moose ONLY and I kept telling him I needed more than just moose and he proceeded to let me know that I’ve been doing my hair wrong all these years. So I let him do it bcz who am I? So I did let him do his thing only for my hair to look like a wet mop. He did my hair in the shampoo bowl so my hair was pretty saturated and then each time he did a section he literally would take the hose and basically rinsed the product out again.
At the end of this “ style” he went to call someone else and they stepped away to what they thought was earshot but she literally told him exactly what I said which was ADD GEL and he then restarted the styling process again. And then he added the smallest about of gel to my hair. For reference I have 4b hair with high porosity. After this nightmare of a styling 2hours. He sat me under the hooded dryer which was literally on top of brain and burning my scalp. Like the thing kept falling on me.
10 minutes in he came over and kept messing with my hair which caused the cast that was trying to build, prematurely frizz out and was literally undoing any curl my hair was trying to create. EVERY 5 mins he came over. And would fluff my hair again and again
Then he took me out the dryer and I told him my hair was still wet and he was like no no it’s ready and then he tried to diffuse and realized again I was correct.
3 hours in at this point I was over it my hair felt like a brilowpad and was sticking up in 3 different directions. So like I was defeated and annoyed like this was an expensive experiment on something I was looking forward to.
Then he took me back to the chair and said he’d do a light dusty in my ends and literally CHOPPED MY HAIR AND GAVE ME BANGS after I told him I’ve already gotten a haircut and I don’t need any off and I just grew out my bangs and I don’t want bangs.
Overall horrible experience my heart is broken I paid 160$ for my hair to be horrible and nothing to be done that I couldn’t do. IVE DONE BETTER as someone who was as inexperienced as he made me feel.
Like I went home crying. All my progress in my hair and retention and growth all gone and I have to restart after paying for a big service. I’ve lost all trust in anyone ever touching my hair.
Do not go here if you don’t have perfect 3b -4a type hair they do great for ringlet curls and the “ good curl” types.
Overall super disappointed and...
Read moreI went to Rezo to get a cut right before a big trip. I looked forward to it for months because of all the great reviews I had seen online. During the process everyone was lovely, sweet and answered all my questions regarding by my hair care and maintenance. The space is gorgeous and inviting and almost feels more like a spa than a salon.
However, the appointment (which online said would take 1 hr) took a total of 3 hours. And unfortunately my hair was much shorter at the end of the cut than expected. I booked an appointment with a senior stylist which costs $250 and we talked about what I was looking for (mainly giving my hair more shape and volume, I was ok with some hair being cut off but enjoyed the length so wanted to only remove anything that looked damaged)
After the initial cut on my dry hair I was sent to the “hair transformation” process and did not see myself in the mirror again until the end. Once everything was said and done I saw myself and my hair was waaaay shorter. Before, it was by my shoulders, now it’s by my ears. The stylist even said that she was surprised at how much my hair shrunk and was hoping I wouldn’t cry when I saw it. Which was honestly shocking, concerning and surprising! Being that I’m paying for the knowledge of a senior curl expert I assumed they would understand how hair of my texture functions.
They took their pictures (which I called to make sure they don’t post anywhere) and sent me on my way. I just ended up crying in the car on my way home trying to figure out how to fix this. Very dissappointed with the outcome. I’ve added pictures to show the difference from before and after the cut.
As a solution they offered to have me come in and have it re-styled but honestly, the issue is the cut… they also seem to have only 1 way of styling hair there and I am not interested in reliving the initial shock I experienced in the chair.
Additionally, I was told at the front desk that I had not paid a deposit because they couldn’t find it in the system. After 3 hours, I was in a rush to leave because my partner had been waiting in the car the entire time, so I took it at face value. The next day I checked my bank account and it turns out I WAS charged a deposit they just couldn’t find it in the system. So in the end they charged me almost $400 for a cut that I am not satisfied with.
If you choose to go here make sure you reiterate to the stylist how much your curly hair shrinks after a wash. Maybe even show pictures since you have to come in with your hair washed and dried with no product in it, so it won’t look the same as when styled.
Be very explicit about what you want and bring the evidence of your deposit like a bank statement or something. Everyone was very sweet but that is not enough to make me come back. Will definitely not be returning.
The images of the short hair are from the day after the cut, once I had stretched it out and styled it a bit more my way. Because of how they style it at the salon it looked shorter and tighter when I was fresh...
Read moreIt’s not easy finding a place that can cut curly hair. I went in for a cut and explained to my stylist, Dalia, that I was looking to cut off split ends/damage while retaining length and I’m more than satisfied.
This was the most delicate, caring, and measured haircut I’ve ever received. They do a dry cut here. Dalia was cutting my hair at different angles, ensuring I got the cut I was looking for while still blending into my whole head and working WITH my curls as opposed to just giving me the same generic cut every other stylist gives their clients. I was worried about getting the generic coconut looking cut I see other “curly hair” salons give people no matter texture or curl pattern but I was grateful that they didn’t do that to me here.
Dalia cut off what had to go WITHOUT doing a big chop. I’ve had stylists in the past cut more than I wanted and left feeling disappointed. Dalia took care NOT to do that and somehow my hair looks JUST as long after the cut but now healthier.
My hair is beautiful and I’ve been getting compliments nonstop since my cut here. Moreover, they actually STYLE your hair after cutting it and take time at the end once your hair is diffused and styled to fix any asymmetries that maybe weren’t visible when your hair was dry. I’ve had curly cuts where they end up blow drying my hair (against my wishes!!!) or just send me out with nothing but water and prayers at the end of the cut. They actually put cream, gel, scrunch, twist, and DIFFUSE your hair as part of your booking. I walked out ready for the rest of my day. Their products also smell sooo so good and gave me definition without making my hair crunchy. For the wash, Dalia used a metal detox line to cleanse out any pollutants my hair may have picked up in this dirty city which I thought was considerate and healthy.
Overall, I loved my experience! I was nervous going in to try a new place but I can fully recommend it now. Feel free to look at my photos and see for yourself. I got a nice cut and plan on...
