I would give her 0 stars if it was an option. She’s VERY unprofessional, rude, and does not stick to her word. Nothing but a scam to take YOUR $50 DOWN DEPOSIT, which I completely do not understand.

I made an appointment almost a month in advance and sent her the $50 down deposit to secure my appointment. Two days before the appointment, she texts me asking for my address. I sent it to her and then she refused to come to my house, which is within the boroughs that she wrote in her description that she would travel to. She also said she will give my down deposit back. I told her let me find a more convenient place for her before she does, but i didn’t find one. Once I confirmed that I didn’t find a place, I told her she can send it back. Guess what.....SHE NEVER DID. I texted her three times and she did not answer, so I believe she blocked me. I have screenshots of all the text messages to prove it.

All of this to take $50 from me? That’s VERY SHALLOW for a business woman that is making over $200...

I wanted to share my story with everyone in hopes that no one has to experience what I did. I spent $375 on goddess locks on Friday and by Sunday, 48 hours later, nearly every one of my locs began unraveling, swelling and the loose curls were falling out. There’s no reason that within two days my hair looked as it did. I have included pictures displaying her work. I’m unable to provide videos on this platform or that would have also been uploaded.

Alaya offered to “fix them“, however why would I return to a stylist who did such a botched job from the beginning? After speaking with other stylists for an opinion, I learned that the hair quality used was low-grade, as well as her loc method. I was forced to take my hair out on Sunday and received no percentage of my money back.

I wanted to do my due diligence and inform others, so no one else has to waste their time or energy as I have.

Update Butterfly Braids has a Groupon special that I purchased. I make my appointment confirmed with the owner via social media. When I arrived she never opened the door, she did not respond to my phone calls,and she did not respond to my messages on Instagram. Groupon gave me a refund after I contacted them informing them I am outside of her business waiting to get my hair styled. I never received any form of communication as I waiting for an hour outside her business which is her home. This was supposed to be my second visit.

Butterfly Braids is the go to Queen for Goddess locs and braids. I am very impressed with how fast installation was. Alaya provides the hair and hair accessories all you have to do is show up and pay. I highly advise yo to leave a deposit to secure your appointment.
