Guys please let’s support more poc friendly and also affordable thrifts in Brooklyn ❗️Going into this space ( i.e. gentrified Williamsburg) comes with the understanding that the prices of their items will be absolutely ridiculous. But to add insult to injury, I felt racially discriminated against right when I entered the establishment.
Today, when going into OPC I was immediately met with security and asked to “check in my bag” onto this shelf with a number system which is a new thing I guess because I’ve never had to do that in this store as well as in their other locations that I’ve been to. But i understood the sentiment so I was willing and didn’t question it. However, when further walking in I notice that other shoppers hadn’t been selected to check in their bags, and couldn’t help to realize the race of shoppers with bags (they were white). I told my friend that we had to get out of there because i immediately felt uncomfortable and targeted, and when looking at the entry to get in again, more and more people were coming in with a bag of some sort and the security disregarded checking them in. I ask the security his policy on checking in bags, trying to consider maybe there is a certain type of bag that they check in specifically and my just happened to fit the bill, but he couldn’t give me an answer because he was new. So I ask another employee behind the counter the same question, and tell her that I felt targeted right when going into the establishment. She can’t get me an answer either and tells me she just does “sales” and there’s nothing she can do but get me a manager. I speak with the manager and she ensures me that the policy for checking bags is not based on targeting a certain demographic of people, and that being that they hire a 3rd party security team there is hiccups sometimes ig. But my issue is that if you have security, the treatment has to be the same for everyone and I was completely disappointed that this wasn’t the case today.
Do better for your poc customers other peoples! This used to be one of my favorite stores across Brooklyn not just this establishment. But I’ve had experiences similar to this in OPC where I felt watched an observed more than others. And this kinda took the cake so I don’t think I’ll...

I know selling at places like this is always going to be a let down, but seriously … 2? Since I’ve been burned before, I know to only bring high quality clothing — everything I brought was in great condition. A few examples of things they rejected are Agolde jeans in good condition (retail for $200+), two hoodies from Okay to Rest (indie brand, amazing quality and retails for $100), Outdoor Voices and brand new Girlfriend Collective athleticwear.
I’ve sold at their Bushwick location before — I brought about half as much as I did today and got $60+ in store credit. Today they offered me $12 in credit or $7 in cash. If you’re deciding between trying to sell at Williamsburg or Bushwick, definitely go Bushwick!
The only reason I’m giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because I like that they donate what they don’t take, unlike similar places (although I do wish they were more transparent about where they take donations).
This was my first time selling here, but as a shopper, I’ve been in 5-10 times and they do have good stuff but their prices are high, even by Brooklyn standards, and I find it to be pretty disorganized/hard...

It was a positive experience. I sold my stuff on a Thursday at 11:30am so 30 minutes after they opened. When you arrive one of the workers will enter you into their que. You can either be present or not. If you have stuff to do then you can leave your stuff and come back when you're ready. You will recieve text messages to let you know it's your turn and when they are done. The staff was able to go through my stuff 20 minutes later and it was quick since I didn't bring a lot. I brought about 5 things and they bought 2 of them. An almost new apparis coat and a pair of new without tags yru shoes. I decided to donate one item and keep everything else. I recieved about $15 for them and they would each be sold for about $25. They break down everything for you on a piece of paper which includes how much they will sell your items for. The store credit is worth more, but I only wanted the cash. I'm taking away one star because I wish they offered a little more cash since they sell it for more than double what they pay you. I think if you get there early, bring good quality, in season items then you will also have a good...
