built in 1939 and modelled after the Durham Cathedral in England. This is the Roman Catholic church of my childhood dreams! After my father's death, my aunt raised me in Forest Hills Gardens and therefore after my brain operations I decisively returned back to my roots. Everything about Forest Hills is magical and nothing has changed. The architecture is so ethereal: interior and exterior. Bishop Paul Sanchez is so deeply learned and always delivers the most relevant word for the day. I always find a reflection of myself in his homilies and always has me in a quest for knowledge and his profundity always has me holding back tears. Speaking of which, the music program is transcendent and always inches me closer to the heavens. And I refuse to hold back my joyful tears, especially when I listen to Paula Jean Rocheleau the angelic soprano. My autistic friend is her biggest fanboy. He can't stop blushing. And tenor John Easterline is sublime. God is pure white light and love. And white light is capable of becoming any color of the rainbow and my congregation is just as reflective, iridescent and beautiful. And they are so respectful to my brain injury as are the ushers. Read moreOne of the best schools I attended- and, I attended a total of 13 schools from Kindergarten to my Senior year. My sixth grade teacher, Ms. Schifano at OLQOM was one of the best teachers I ever had and my favorite. She was outstanding! So much that I really never had to study much until I was in College- It was all a review from then on. Not only was she an expert in every subject, she encouraged us to come to our own conclusions with our own knowledge and thought process- Always eager to assist us in any way if we needed extra help after school. There was never a stupid question- She answered all our questions with the upmost respect, knowledge and integrity. OLQOM was a full curriculum school- Art, Physical Ed, Music, all subjects, a wonderful library, chorus, plays, religious classes, encouraged play time and recreation at recess and ediquette classes in a very loving and supportive environment- A wonderful educational and all around experience- just an...
Read moreI went to their private school growing up, they are extremely prejudice against people who aren't Catholic attending their school. (I get it, why go to a Catholic school if you aren't Catholic?) Parents wanted me to be in better schooling than public school since they did well for themselves. As one who wasn't Catholic, I was forced to read the first Phrase of the Bible each morning and the pledge of allegiance. If someone didn't, they would not allow you to eat lunch. (By law that's illegal.) Also if you didn't complete your homework you couldn't eat lunch and had to sit in a room while everyone else had recess. You would think that parents who pay over $5K (at the time) would have their kids treated better and...
