I’m now part of a growing group of (former Tesla owners) and sure enough Polestar was the first electric vehicle I saw on a YouTube video. I was at the end of my lease with a Nissan Altima and I wanted to see what was out there. When I saw that Polestar 2 video on YouTube it really made me think about going electric. At the time we were in the middle of the pandemic cars were hard to find. So long story short I ended up getting a model y. While the car was nice, it wasn’t exactly luxurious and it wasn’t what I was looking for. I ended up trading it for a refresh model s. I really liked the model s and it was a good car. However after the election and all the backlash against Tesla it so happened my insurance also went sky high. I had a decision to make. Keep a car I genuinely like and deal with the embarrassment that comes with driving it while paying shy of $850 a month for insurance or cut my losses and walk away. Once again I find myself looking for a car. A checked out the polestar website and saw that the had a promotion that included an incentive for Tesla owners. I requested more info. The best sales rep in the business (Gilmar) called me the next day. I explained my situation to him and he asked me a few questions about what I was looking for. He put together a deal for me. I went to the design studio to see the car in person. Another great sales rep assist my friend and I and let me go on a test drive even though I didn’t have one scheduled. I put in a deposit that day. Due to the negative equity on my car we get to the point where it looks like we wouldn’t be able to move forward with the deal. I reach out to Gilmar again and explained if he would be able to talk to his manager and come up with a plan that I would be acceptable to me I would be willing to work with him. He went back to work and came up with a proposal. I take a look around and the proposal was one that I could manage. We agreed and we were all set to go. Today the day of the delivery, we run into some issues again. At this point I thought it was all over. However I took a chance and challenged Gilmar to think outside the box once again and find a solution. Gilmar came through once again and I had my Polestar 3 now park on my driveway. I had a great time driving my model s but unfortunately changes had to be made. I was not planning on getting a new vehicle until a few years down the road but some times the universe has other plans. Thank you Gilmar and the team at Polestar Manhattan. I’m looking forward to driving my P3 and seeing what Polestar does in the future. I know this was a long one but I wanted to give some context for what Gilmar’s due diligence means to me as a customer. Go check them out, you’ll be...
Read moreSo, I get this email from my sales person about writting a review, ( a generic email), so hear goes.... My experience going to Polestar was seamless. the sales person Oscar knew what I was talking about and knew my concerns and was able to answer my questions. I set up a day form my wife to come in, and we meet Johnathan. He was also knowledgeable about the car and was able to address my questions. We was able to put a deposit down and able to get the car the same week. I was not ready, so I asked to hold till the following week. Sure he said. NOW he comes the bad part...So Johnathan asked if I wanted to get the car at the dealer or the warehouse down town. I said at the dealer, ok. I get to the dealer and had to wait 10 mins before anyone came out. I get to see the manager Noah who tells me that my car is down town and that he will pay for an Lyft to get me down town. So now I wasted my time to go from midtown to the dealer only to get in a lyft to go downtown. The place was 5 blocks from my office. So now I get there and because it is a high end car dealer (polestar rents the 2nd floor) the guy had a bit of a snobish attitude. So after waiting another 15 minutes the guy came down (I forgot his name) to show me the car and finish signing all the paperwork. That being sais I didnt have time to go through the car and review all the features. He said he would let Johnathan know and set an appointment with me at my convience to review the car. Well that never happened.....And even when I went to talk to Noah and Johnathan about an issue witht he car and the no follow up call, to this review I still have not recieved a call to go over my car.
Now since I am on a rant, I hit a pot hole, can you believe that in NYC? and I heard a weird noise like a suspention issue. So I called Volvo of Manhattan since they would be the ones to work on Polestar cars. Long store short, it was recommended to change out the wheel bearing, that cost me over $1,000 to only have the problem still exist. So now I called to complain and they scheduled a technican to do a drive around with me, which I asked if the mechanic did that, no answer. He is "GUESSING" what the problem might me. So now I was miss diagnosed, charged, and now he is guessing about replaceing another part. NOTE: the car drives fine, no shakes, vibrations, pulling. Another bad experience. Thanks...
Read moreFirst of all a huge Thank You! to Luke who was amazing. After about of a month of watching all possible youtube videos of all electric cars I decided, that the best option will be a Polestar. Having driven a Tesla, but the simplicity of interior and exterior design was not my cup of tea, so Tesla was out first. VW ID4, Leaf, Mini Electric, even new Audi Q4 and Ford Mach -E, nothing came close to Polestar. And after a test drive I was sold. Took me less than a week to give this space a call early on Sunday morning, get call back within an hour from Luke and having my car picked up next Sunday. LOVE IT!!! Can't get enough of it. And this comes from the guy who owned BMW X5, Audi TT, Audi Q7, Lexus RX, Maserati Ghibli in the last few years. Nothing gave me more joy than driving this car. Fit and finish is superb. Built quality is excellent. Acceleration of electric engine is out of this world. 408HP is plenty enough. Interior room is great. Being an android guy from the very first days of android this cars infotainment is the best I had in any other car. Being able to simply push a button on a steering wheel and tell your command to google is priceless. Any command. Maps are great. You don't even need to pair your phone. Car comes with it's own LTE connection. Installed 240V charger at my driveway and one overnight charging is enough for a full week of driving and even more. I do have 2 more cars in the household so for the long trips I use them, but for city driving nothing can beat electric car. In my honest opinion everyone who considers electric car for city driving MUST test drive a Polestar. You will not regret it. Thank you again Polestar Manhattan for all.
p.s. By the way lease deal is great and much cheaper for the same terms and equally priced Tesla, and you don't have to wait...
