I’m giving 3 stars because I feel too bad to give anything else. If you don’t wanna read the premise is, If you have curly hair and want a curly cut meaning a hair cut that frames your face and one where you can still mainly style your hair curly, then this is not your place. They are really kind & the place seems clean, I even got a hair treatment and that was great. But curly hair cuts? This is not their thing. I have pretty natural soft curls, think Taylor swift’s hair at the beginning of her career. I got a hair cut because my ends were looking rough. I called the salon and asked if anyone specializes in curly cuts. The hair stylist said they all special in curly cuts. What it really was, was a regular haircut on curly hair. Which is my fault because the price was low and curly hair cuts are expensive so part of me should have known.
She trimmed the front of my hair framing my face and made small side “bangs” because I assume she realized that the haircut she gave me, gave very little volume to the top of my head and a lot of volume to the bottom and I assume the bangs were her way of adding “dimension”. This triangle like hair style is common when you don’t know how to cut curly hair. She struggled with the outcome of the look so much that she ended up blowing out my bangs with a blow dryer and kept the rest of my hair curly. With curly cuts they should be styling the curls after the cut by applying product (leave in and/or curl cream) to help train each curl and that wasn’t done, just a little product and a little scrunching. I work in the beauty industry (as a makeup artist) so part of me knows how frustrating it is to have someone tell you how to do your job so a lot of the time I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I’ve had this hair cut for months and am leaving this review now after realizing how much more I’ve been blowing out my hair since this cut and after talking to a few of the hairstylists in my industry, I’m very now very aware that this place does not specialize in curly cuts and feel like I should warn my fellow curly hair girls because I don’t want any of us to give up on our natural hair journey because of a...
Read moreThe lady who gave me my hair cut was extremely rude and unprofessional.
When I am paying $45 for a haircut I expect the person who is giving me a haircut to be patient and give me their undivided attention and make sure at the end that we get things right.
The whole time the lady who gave me the hair cut was acting like she was in a rush. As she was working my hair she kept combing my hair with a briskness that led to her scratching my scalp and neck to the point it was aching afterwards. I told her to go more lightly, but after acknowledging what I said she then continued to do the exact same thing.
After about maybe 30 minutes of cutting me hair she stopped cutting my hair despite it falling in face and not being where I wanted it to be as her next customer had arrived.
After talking to her about how it wasn't how I liked it or what I asked for, she told me that there was nothing more that she could do and mentioned the issue was that i didn't have any natural oil in my hair because she washed it and dried it out and despite my request that she continue to work with me to get it right she just decided she wasn't interested in helping just started working on the next person's hair.
I've never left from a haircut before and had this experience and told any of these excuses that my natural oil is the reason my haircut looks sloppy, and unfortunately, the natural oil in my hair that has since returned has not helped that much.
If you are a guy looking to get a nice haircut don't come here!
Update 1 month later: I recently went to go get a new hair cut a month later at a new hair salon. The hair stylist asked me when my last haircut was and was shocked when I told him it was a month ago, and confirmed that my last haircut was done incorrectly when I mentioned it was from RUSH he mentioned that he has had multiple clients come through where he had had to fix their hair after mishaps at RUSH.
Definitely heed this story and avoid...
Read moreI’ve hesitated on writing this review because I’ve actually never written a review before , but after a week of tying my hair back to ATTEMPT in hiding the worst “bang” haircut I’ve been given in my whole entire life. Which I fully expressed to my stylist ( if you can call her that because I would assume that title is given to someone well educated in hair) that I HATED what I received & it was far from what I asked for. I showed her the picture not once but twice and expected and explanation for how they resembled one another. I asked for curtained bangs & I have extremely thick hair so I know very well I would have never asked for straight across bangs. Yet I was given exactly that , bangs that are straight across, not to mention she took such a big chunk of the front of my hair that I now resemble Dora. She attempted to compliment me stating she “thought they looked cute” . I’m a 30 year old woman at no point do I walk into any salon and ask them to make me look cute, I ask for a style and I expect that & id respect any stylist who admitted they couldn’t do what I asked for before winging it, botching my hair & having the nerve to still charge me 80$. I’m a small business owner myself so I understand the value of time anyones time but the customer should always come first , especially when I was very vocal about my hair , during the cut… after the blow dry … attempting to fix it myself with my fingers praying I could find a way to deal with it.
The only reason I haven’t mentioned the name of the stylist is because I actually can’t even remember it, I don’t remember much of anything she said after. I was late for an important meeting and had to purchase the biggest headband I could to find to literally hide the chunk I feel is missing from the front of my hair line.
I have been coming to this salon in and off for years , I believe my old stylists name is Nina, she was great. I wish she was in that day because now I will never...
