I’ve visited this salon three times for Gel-X sets. My first visit was excellent and I left feeling satisfied and happy with my nails, which is the sole reason I returned for two more appointments. However, each visit after that initial one progressively got worse. For both the second and third visit, the same nail tech worked with me, and unfortunately both of those experiences were very stressful. Especially my most recent one where I left extremely dissatisfied. During the consultation, I clearly explained what I wanted: rounded tips, one cateye nail, and one ombre nail on each hand. I also provided a reference photo of exactly what I wanted and described my preferences verbally. The nail tech responded confidently, which made me think she understood my vision. However, once the service started it seemed as though she only briefly glanced at my reference photo and then went in her own direction. I wanted to trust the process, but I became increasingly concerned, especially when I saw how the cateye and ombre designs were turning out. The cateye was blue —something I never requested—and the ombre lacked any real blend. It looked more like my nail was simply just painted half black. I tried to voice my concerns, expressing that I thought the ombre looked off and asked why the cateye was blue. Her response was dismissive and unhelpful. There was little to no resolution. She sighed and told me she would just cover it up if I didn’t like it. At that point, I felt like a burden for even asking. I agreed to have the ombre covered up, but that only added towards my dissatisfaction. The whole appointment was so stressful and I felt unheard. The final result of my set barely reflected what I asked for. My nails are more almond shaped than rounded, the cateye is still blue, and the ombre wasn’t properly done to begin with.

There was never a point where she asked to see the reference photo again or checked to confirm the design. I would’ve gladly handed her my phone if she needed a closer look or answered any questions to make things more clear. I don’t think I should have to point out issues or have to criticize a nail technician.. especially during a paid service where you expect them to be well skilled. As a nail tech you should have the ability to execute the work your customer requests or work around problems. If she took the time to be more attentive with the reference photo and designs I was asking for then there would have been no room for misinterpretations.

I’m sad that I paid $85 for a set that should have been simple. :(

I have provided the reference photo and a photo of the set...

Just recently moved to Brooklyn so I'm trying to find a nail salon that I can go to on the regulars came across Shimmer on my walk around the neighborhood with my dog. Hesitant as I am usually a nerve wreck when trying new spots in general but I gave this nail salon a go as a woman, who seems to be the owner was looking out the door and gave me a friendly wave and a smile-- that's exactly what drew me in.

I came back the next day and went to look for her, Monica was her name. When I tell you.. she is incredibly talented, detail-oriented, and has such a great eye for color and design-- I really do mean it! She was extremely gentle with my nails and respectful with what I wanted, told her I was afraid of the nail drill as I had some bad experience in the past and she made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole session. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel welcomed and comfortable. We chatted about what kind of look I was going for, and she helped me pick the perfect shades and design I was aiming for. Definitely gonna recommend my friends here as they live close by as well!

If you're planning to get your nails done in the area, definitely look for Monica (as I'm sure other nail techs are just as wonderful)! I think I found...

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the pedicure service here and I must say, it was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I stepped foot into the spa, I was greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that immediately put me at ease.

The pedicure station was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the necessary tools and products. The stuff was highly skilled, knowledgeable, and took great care in ensuring that I was comfortable throughout the entire process. She was also very friendly and made great conversation, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

The pedicure itself was incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating. The foot soak was warm and soothing, and the exfoliation and massage left my feet feeling soft, smooth, and revitalized.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the pedicure service at Shimmer Nail and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch pedicure experience. The staff are professional, friendly, and go above and beyond to ensure that you have a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I will definitely be returning for...
