I would like to share my story of how this facility has refused my relative over three times in a given year. There are no words to describe how I have been in the health care profession for 36 years and administration in large medical hospitals in Manhattan and have seen what I have seen in the selection process at this sunrise at Mill basin. There is an administrator here named Alexa who has no medical expertise or knowledge and is allowed to say whether a person can be admitted there or not with medical records that are documented so clearly by professional physicians. She has also again the third time refused my uncle. He has been a medical miracle to the family and the medical profession that we are so excited and trying to get him into assisted. Living here has caused nothing but sadness to my uncle and the family. Being a resident of Bergen Beach for more than 20 years, I am well known in the community and I can no longer feel that this facility should have people of good value in nature be admitted there. This administrator had no business to not even say to the family why she was refusing. My uncle did not see my uncle did not speak to me as his power of attorney. Nothing. She refused him three times with his clean medical record and nothing there to differ. She refused him who would put her in this position that has no medical knowledge and no professional courtesy to others. This is an inhumane factor that has happened and I hope no one out there will ever have to experience what I and my uncle and my family have gone through when there are other facilities in Nassau county. More expensive in Brooklyn that have accepted my uncle. This place refuses to take him so I'm writing there so the public can see and read what I have gone through and an unjust feeling that this is caused in my heart. Thank you and I hope that people will read what I wrote and listen to what I...
Read moreBoth my father and mother had been Sunrise at Mill Basin residents for 3 ½ years. It was a difficult decision to make; however, their needs outweighed living in their home. We searched for the right fit, and upon meeting with Angie Giorlando, I knew I found the perfect place. She was kind and considerate when she explained in great detail everything we needed to know about making arrangements for our parents’ move as this was a delicate situation for us all. She helped us to navigate through the administrative tasks with ease and offered ongoing support with sincere interest in the well- being of my parents over this time span. In addition, all the personnel were professional, considerate, polite, and attentive to my parents. The lovely smile of Marcia and her cordial welcome upon entering Sunrise with every visit exuded a feeling of comfort and friendship. My parents were safe, nourished, and nurtured in a warm and caring environment. Their room and all the common areas were clean and very well-maintained. The residents are encouraged to participate in the various activities throughout the week. Holidays and special occasions are celebrated which give the residents the joy of those special times. You sense a feeling of community. I highly recommend Sunrise...
Read moreParking is not good until the workers leave. Security is poor, always kids trespassing on the property , nothing done. One maintenance man who you have to ask multiple times for stuff. Halls need larger and more signage. Like a arrow pointing to the elevator. People are old and have a hard time seeing and they don't acccomadate to this. Rooms are tiny, bathroom is almost same size. Also toilet seat doesn't stay up cuz there is a ledge in the way. Poor outlet placement in the room. Bug problems. One time toilet backed up and nobody working there would help, cuz the 1 Maintenance guy was gone for the day. Workers don't report broken things, door handle was hang off the door, very noticeable for at least 2weeks, nobody fixed it. I notice workers charging items in the room...
