The Rainbow Play Space East Village — Local services in New York

My toddler and preschooler love the Rainbow, and so do I, because I get to talk to other parents and caregivers while our kids play happily. It is such a valuable community space. We go all the time, and it feels so cozy, but my kiddos are always so excited to visit. As soon as we walk in, their faces light up and they run in to play independently and with all the other kids there! The owner, Mimi, has created something truly amazing, because my kids don't always play this peacefully or independently or creatively at home. The space is so thoughtfully designed and so reflective of the specialness of the East Village, and its NYC storefronts (like a library and supermarket) encourage kids to really immerse themselves in imaginative play. Since we don't have room in our apartment for a play kitchen or shopping card or nugget, I'm so glad that they get to play with those at the Rainbow. We just had my older kiddo's 4th birthday there, and it felt truly special to see how much the kids enjoyed it. The classes have been great so far, especially Baby Karaoke, Mini Melodies, and Letters Lab (early literacy for 3-7 year olds). The staff here are genuinely helpful and attentive, making parents feel welcomed and supported. It’s clear they care about creating a positive experience for both kids and families.

There’s so much to keep kids engaged and entertained, with activities suitable for various ages. I’m looking forward to holding my child’s birthday party here as the space will be perfect for a celebration - plenty of room for kids to play and explore!

We need to have more spaces like The Rainbow in NYC! It’s the perfect space for kids, in fact the whole family. Because they not only have spaces and fun activities for the little ones (little babies and bigger kids), but also for the family to bond with the community, like a mom’s support group and other things.
