Caveat: there are two distinct stores, both called L train Vintage, but there is only one business page for both. This review is for the small side.
One side is huge with relatively acceptably priced clothes.
The other side is small and they charge comically absurd amounts of money for these clothes. I genuinely thought it was a joke at first, like I was being pranked. $175 for a Carhartt jacket that I could buy new for $125. Ratty T shirts for $50.
Itās not like this place is a curated selection, and thereās nothing unique about the clothes. They buy pallets of clothing, big 6x6ā cubes of clothes all compressed together. Yeah, they sort it and tag it. But they hang it as is, wrinkled and grimy.
Listen, Iām not even mad about it. Thatās capitalism, baby. But it doesnāt mean itās a good store or worth it as a consumer.
Itās a gentrifier trap, but it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to the Knickerbocker Ave location and the clothes were eh. This review is about the state of the store itself. The second I walked into the place I felt my chest tightening from how much dust was in the air. I have mild (very mild) asthma, and I have been to a lot of thrift stores (and other L Train locations). Never had this happen to me before in a thrift store. I understand secondhand clothes can be dusty from being old and in storage for a long time, whatever the case may be. But this was excessive. Everywhere I turned the air was thick with visible dust particles. I could feel them on my eyelashes and in my hair and I just felt like I needed to get out of there, go home and shower. It's hard to believe this location is new because this seemed like years worth of dust. I will not be going back to this location. Also the cashier was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a pretty fun thrift store to go in to. Thereās a really large selection of things to go through so it can be a little overwhelming but youāre destined to find a few treasures if you spend an hour or so in there. I went and looking for a dress for an event and was able to walk out 30 minutes later with a 90ās prom dress in great condition. The best part it was $25, thereās definitely other options for cheaper as well but $25 for a ballgown is a steal in my book.
Also to update some of the information from the other reviews the dressing rooms are open and you do need to check any bags at the front door but when youāre ready to check out they will give them back to you so you can pay. This isnāt the first store that does this I know itās just for shoplifting purposes. L train also does it every single location so itās not...
