My uncle unfortunately suddenly passed away on October 3 due to a heart attack. My aunt is hypertensive and currently takes 4 blood pressure medications. Ativan was prescribed to prevent her from going into hypertensive crisis. This evening I arrived to the pharmacy about 10 minutes prior to closing the pharmacy tech confirms my aunt’s DOB and then told me the medication was filled at CVS. I explained to her the 10 doses were filled at CVS that was 24hrs and the provider wanted to monitor if she’ll have any reaction because she’s not used to taking any sort of narcotics. Once the provider confirmed there were no adverse reaction the provider sent the remainder to her home pharmacy. I assumed they were skeptical because it’s a controlled substance, but more questions could’ve been asked if they were uncomfortable. Instead I was told we’re about to close and therefore it’s going to have to wait for the morning. Lies, I got to my aunt’s house and she told me she was notified 2 days ago that her medication was ready. Naturally I was upset and I will admit I was pretty loud. All I was thinking is we don’t want to plan 2 funeral arrangements. Out of nowhere this man whose picture is attached came and identified himself as an employee and said “this is not the jungle”. Of course I became irrate at that point because here goes Vicky S (the pharmacist I’m assuming) who is refusing to show her badge and lying saying I should’ve called earlier when the medication was in fact ready for pick up and the other employee whose picture is attached telling me this is not the jungle. Finally, Vicky S threatened to call the provider to cancel the prescription because I was cursing. There were no probing to mediate the situation. The medication was not filled. Empathy does not exist and everyone wants to do the bare minimum. I hate pulling the race card, but if it was someone of a different skin tone, the outcome would’ve been much different.
PS My aunt is a senior citizen who lost her husband who she only knew from when she was 16 years old.
Update: Vicky S or someone called my aunt to apologize about not releasing her medication and T o add insult to injury she offered a water down version of the event transpired. My aunt is mourning and of course I didn’t bother her with the details that one of the Walgreens employees (this picture attached) told me “this is not the jungle” and Vicky S didn’t care about her health. She made it seem like I’m just this irrational person who walked off the street and started cursing at the employees.
Last night I made a complaint to the customer relations number. According to Sherrel, the district manager’s name is Edward Hui and each day that goes by and I don’t get a call I will be posting this review on different platforms with the picture of Mr. This is not the jungle and the store’s address. Last warning!!!
Update:
Edward Hui, the district manager returned my call. A formal investigation will be conducted. I was informed that “Mr. This is not the jungle” is not employed by Walgreens. He’s in fact an employee of Foster Grant and I will be making a formal complaint...
Read morePast three decades. They still have not improved their checkout register. Yes you heard me correct, for past 30 years this Walgreens location have not yet fixed their long waiting line issue. Even before the digital stuff. I remember back in late 00s and early 2010s the staff back then was better. But now it’s the same old problem, not that it was noticeably improve. They just had a better staff for a few years back in late 00s and early 10s but the problems was still there. Since that Duane Reade on the corner of Pettit Ave and Broadway been closed, people in this area been going to this Walgreens and yet they still have not improved their long queue.
Now it’s worse because the products are locked due to this current dystopian era we are in. So when you press the button and wait for the staff to come unlock the shelf, they just for some reason don’t appear for 7 to 10 minutes. Maybe these kids are talking to their friends or texting or whatever. They just don’t come at least not as fast as you wish.
5/11/24 Saturday about 7 pm. I kinda had it enough. Is saddens me that although this is a nostalgic place of those candies aisle, beef jerkies and potato chips aisle, selection of frozen foods and almonds and other nuts. Pokémon cards and magic the gathering. All those nostalgia. I guess I’ll just have to move on. Those snacks I can get somewhere else or order them online. I mean I don’t pick up my medication from this location anymore and I don’t see the previous people there either such as that nice pharmacist Filipino lady. If the staff move on then maybe customers should just move on too. These snacks I can just buy them somewhere else I shouldn’t just come here for nostalgia.
Thank you Walgreens for all these years.
And if anyone was wondering. Around 7 pm We were trying to get Olay face wash. It was locked so we called. No one came. We waited. There was at least one other person too waiting in that aisle. Eventually a young girl came, we got tired of waiting and we just decided to leave. She was indifferent, she said “okay”. I suppose that “okayy” is the good bye...
Read moreWORST WALGREENS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO... They should just close this Walgreens down. Literally waited 15 minutes for someone to unlock the shelf for a machine razor and no one was available to help. Asked the lady to help and she said everyone is busy with their lines and can not help... Her argument was everyone is busy with the register... They probably expected me to wait there until the store got less busy to just get a machine razor off the shelf.. Ended up leaving the store and walking to the one couple blocks away. This is the service this Walgreens provides. I recommend no one to ever walk here and this my local Walgreens I have been going to for 20+ years and they always have bad service and long lines. Don’t even bother clicking on the customer service button.. It works perfectly fine but their employees don’t work. Their job consists of only being at the register. Management is very very poor. They are better off hiring a homeless person off the streets for their manager, they would probably work wonders on organizing this Walgreens. DO NOT STEP FOOT IN HERE! Go to the one couple blocks away.. Way better service and they only have about 3-4 workers.. This crappy Walgreens had 5 workers and it wasn’t...
