Before joining this studio, I checked reviews, which were all positive. I expected a challenging experience based on recommendations about Pilates being more demanding than traditional strength training. However, my first impression was disappointing – the person at the front desk, who I later learned was Abby, my Pilates instructor, completely ignored me. Abby seemed indifferent and unhelpful when I sought guidance especially since it was my first time there.
Despite this, I decided to get a monthly pass with a friend for 8 class credits. The initial classes were enjoyable and provided a different workout than my usual gym routine. Yet, over time, I found the classes repetitive and some instructors less engaging. Personal favorites were Jessica, Leah and Andrea, who actively assisted and provided alternatives for exercises.
Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy Abby's classes, as her exercises caused discomfort. Alyson was another instructor I wouldn't recommend. The availability of preferred classes became a major issue, often fully booked or on a lengthy waitlist, depending on your membership billing cycle.
Another major drawback was the inflexibility with credits. Being sick for three weeks in December meant I couldn't carry credits to the next month. Attempting to cancel my membership in December, I discovered a 30-day notice requirement, which felt somewhat hidden in the policy. (This could have also been my fault for not thoroughly reading the policy agreement after I signed it) The policy also required three months before canceling, creating an inconvenience for those no longer interested. In conclusion, while trying something new is encouraged, my overall experience makes me hesitant...
Read moreThe studio instructors are all amazing!! I haven’t had an issue with any classes and they were all great. The only issue I run into so far is the front reception.
I called today, Monday, January 6th asking if the studio was open due to snow (roads were drivable and not bad at all but wanted to check — and they were open) but my mom called me saying that my son was lethargic and complaining of stomach pain and I called his doctor to bring him in because he wasn’t feeling well and had a high fever.
I called the studio letting them know of the family emergency and I spoke to (I believe her name was) Liz. She was the most rude and non understanding person on the phone. She talked with attitude, did not seem sympathetic, and was like “you’re telling me two different things. You want to cancel and you have a family emergency.”
No shit? I have to cancel because of a family emergency? And I called to see if there was anything to do because of the cancellation period. And all she said to me was
“Well I’m going to cancel as courtesy for you this time but next time I won’t”
This is not great customer service and I feel like I was treated so poorly as a member of this studio. I did not want to cancel on purpose and things come up and happen. Do better and don’t treat your members like they are not human.
The interaction has been so distasteful, I’m considering switching locations where I feel more welcomed and they have...
Read moreTerrible experience I truly believe this location turned me and my friend away due to us being African American. My friend and I were asked multiple times did we want to move our location to the Brandywine location which is a predominantly black area. Why would I want to travel all the way to Brandywine, Delaware when I live five minutes from the Newtown Square location. They also told me and my friend that we had to sign a wavier prior to coming or our appointment would be canceled, but when I arrived in the morning Caucasian women as well as Asian women signing the waivers. The man at the front desk as well as the woman that called me the day before were extremely rude and displayed racism. I would not recommend this location to any one that is African-American due to the...
