Happy I stumbled on Niles early in my move to SW Michigan. Downtown has a surprising amount going on! Consider it for holiday shopping and definitely consider popping into Veni's Sweet Shop. Dang. This is some good chocolate and I'm kind of a snob. Their dark chocolate is nowhere near too sweet (which is perfect for dark chocolate lovers) and a large hunk of the dark chocolate almond bark is my favorite treat for myself when I go to buy gifts (and itās the hub's stocking stuffer).
Last year was the first time I went in for holiday gifts and I thought they had a great selection. They have everything from stocking stuffers to handmade candy canes for the tree, truffles, fudge and an excellent selection of dark and milk chocolate. They even had an advent calendar which my 87 year old Mom is LOVING!
Established over 100 years ago, Veniās is small batch, hand crafted quality chocolate made with fresh ingredients (real sugar, butter and cream!). I love it so much, I sent some to family in California for a Christmas gift in addition to the hostess gifts, chocolate for the neighbors and their kids, to give to my friends when we get together for holiday cheer and of course that advent calendar!
Fantastic and Yum! Plus their corner store in downtown Niles is really sweet and the staff...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe handmade artisan chocolates and candies at Veni's taste marvelous, and the cases are always full of tempting treats. A beautiful, historic shop with incredible chocolates and friendly staff, Veni's offers an experience that's reminiscent of a chocolate shop I remember visiting in Old Town Nice, France. They offer sugar free options, nuts, candies (rock candy, taffy, licorice, and more), and of course chocolates! Dark, milk, and white chocolate creations are available in a wide variety of options, including truffles. Our favorites are the pecan turtles and toffee. All items are clearly priced, and are also available to order online if you can't visit the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a niles institution. We moved 1800 miles away and miss these wonderful home made candies. So every three years we come home and make sure we stop here.. I was a bit surprised to see both show windows empty (had such cute displays), we were not sure they were open. The prices are always high but the service is good and the taste is great. However, a word of warning do NOT order off line. It comes from Nappanee and it will be over priced and crushed. They won't care and will pretty much ignore and problems you have. Stick with the in...
