Warning! Insanely antiquated cancellation policy (I've been trying to cancel out of state for months). If you do join this or any other location I hope you have no plans of ever moving or apparently ever even dying, seems like they'd still need a signature AD or your corps is getting sent to collections...Sent a hand written letter as asked, letter got returned causing another month of unwanted membership. Staff at this particular location were unhelpful. "Manager" provided a corporate number which takes you to a recording saying "this is an unmanned number" on a loop aka doesn't work, to which the response was essentially a shrug...so you have no way to contact corporate. After providing a number that does not connect to anyone the "manager" refused to provide a working corporate number or a phone number to contact the GM for help...to a customer who has paid hundreds of dollars to this gym. When I asked for that phone number to contact the GM I was told their policy states they are only able to give out the GM email not the phone number. I asked if that was an actual written policy that crunch has to which the "manager" replied he was simply just refusing to provide it. To confirm this "policy" I called 3 other crunch gyms and had no trouble getting a contact number for their GMs...So I'm not sure if this is a policy of just the Norman location or if it just depends on the day and who answers the phone and how they feel that day. I will no longer be in Norman due to the death of a close friend, having this gym make cancellation even more difficult in an already difficult time is unfortunate. You can't even freeze your account easily bc the home gym has to send a letter that you sign and send back like this is the year 1940. Their policy was literally written in hyroglifcs with a stone and chizzle and hasn't been updated since. The cheap membership is nowhere near worth the headache trust me. I've joined lifetime instead, definitely pricier but there's no gymnastics necessary to cancel or pause it's done easily on the app as it should be. Take your money where you are valued, assisted and respected as a customer and one that values customer service and convenience. I did try to email the GM and received a notification that my email was returned, so I was also apparently given a nonworking email, this is insane...
In response to the crunch response below: As stated in the review you clearly didn't read I won't be back in Norman bc my best friend that lives there died a few weeks ago... So you're recommending I fly to Oklahoma...
Read moreGood service but don't trust them with any card number. I have 2 bank accounts one i rarely use and one i use regularly. It helps me keep new places i don't trust from accessing my bigger account. Well i paid the deposit for crunch with my main card and told them that wasn't to be saved or used and gave them my other card for direct withdrawls. I deposited 200 in my account to pay the gym. Well my gf pulled money out of the account without telling me and the gym kept trying to pull the money out of this account for 3 months. I get a email from my bank telling me that account is minus 100 dollars. I call the bank and find out what's happening. Then call the gym on Friday and tell them I'll be in next Friday to pay them everything but to stop hitting the card cause it keeps hitting me 19.98 every time they try to hit my card they agree. Well here comes Tuesday and i have a huge saltwater emergency in one of my reef tanks so run down to the store and try to use my regular card and its been hit by crunch. I call up there and they apologies and say the card was put on as a backup...... i certainly did not i don't trust any gym in norman... been screwed twice in 8 years by gyms here hitting my cards after i cancel my membership. I specifically told them not to save that card at all. I canceled my membership immediately. Now i will say they are extremely nice and professional here and it's really clean. Thats why its at the 2 star but since i can't trust them with my debit card they lost 3 stars..
Update: ive seen your reply blaming someone else. Was it a third party who saved the both my debit cards to the account when I specifically said not to? Multiple times my bank account was hit over and over again but since i didn't know it was empty and didn't get a call from you or my bank you just kept trying for around 3 months. Then all the sudden the card you wasn't suppose to even have saved got hit. It's like yall knew it wasn't suppose to be used. There is always money on that card because it's my primary account so if you had hit it i would of noticed. So a little fishy for an automated system. You all are still responsible for the companies you hire to charge your accounts. Maybe some other time I'll try yall again because your people in store are really nice and your store is clean and new. If things are different then... then ill delete my comment and give a good review. Your still the best gym in norman that...
Read moreOther reviews have mentioned how difficult it is to cancel membership at this gym. Unfortunately, I have had an identical experience. The past few months trying to resolve this have been extremely frustrating, and I am documenting my experience to warn people away from signing up at Crunch Fitness.
I went to Crunch in person to cancel my membership on January 11, 2025, and was told that it would be canceled after thirty days, and that if I had any scheduled charges within that thirty-day window, I'd still be billed. This happened on January 21, 2025, as expected.
However, I have now been charged twice beyond that charge within that thirty-day window, even though I received an e-mail documenting my cancelation. The first time it happened, on February 20, 2025, I called and spoke to Marybeth, the manager, who assured me that my account was showing as canceled in their system and that I had been confused about when my account would stop being billed. I don't believe I was confused, but was assured that was the final time I would be billed, and was willing to accept this if it meant I'd never have to deal with it again. However, I was wrongly billed my monthly fee a second time on March 20, 2025. When I went in person again to the gym today to ask why, I found out that my cancelation had never been processed when I went in the first time. The cancelation document had been created, but my membership was not actually canceled. I spoke to Marybeth in person today and she apologized, assured me that my account is now canceled effective March 25, 2025, and that I will not be billed further. However, based on my previous poor customer service, lack of investigation on part of the staff, and negative interactions trying to get this membership canceled, I cannot trust that this actually true.
I have now paid two months of membership fees beyond when I ought to have. Canceling a gym membership should not be this difficult or this expensive. I adhered to the terms of my contract with Crunch, and I expect them to adhere to theirs. Crunch needs to train their staff better to process cancelations and to actually honor their own terms of service.
As it is today, I highly recommend...
