Be prepared to be amazed...at how the majority of the items in the store have no price tags. So you're forced to ask the kid behind the counter how much each thing costs that you might be interested in. Then when he commences to search the computer for the "market price" be prepared to be amazed yet again as he or she tells you that it's twice the retail price because they obviously use eBay or some other such site to estimate its current value.
I went in there with my WiiU Zelda edition and all the best games for it (like 20 games) in mint condition and after 15 minutes of the clerk trying to contact the owner, I was told that 60 dollars store credit is all that it was worth. So I took my business elsewhere. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but when a local operator of a business can't give me a solid price tag, or offer me a fair retail price, I'm headed to corporations such as Walmart or Gamestop. Amazon usually has anything this store has for half the price.
So if you want to go out of your way to be treated unfairly, and be charged whatever the clerk that day wants for an item, feel free to do so. I've been going there for years. I went in there two days ago to browse and somehow the price tags have disappeared. Asking a price for each thing I want and having someone use Google to gouge the hell out of me for a new item is degrading. Also telling me that their goal is to keep the products in the "hands of the collectors as opposed to the general public" is also a very condescending thing to say to me, as if the items I want aren't for my collection, or I don't know what I'm talking about.
Feeling like I'm interrupting the current conversation they are having about Deadpool, to ask how much each thing is, and being treated as a nuisance, just to be appalled at the horrendous markups, is not a good way to run a comic book store, or any store for that matter.
Horrible customer service, horrible business ethics and ludicrous prices for new items. They also try to charge for the free comic books on free comic book day. Completely unacceptable. I could go on and on about the horrible selection and outrageous prices on video games as well but why bother.
Here's a tip, GameOn, try printing up some price tags. And honor the price. It shouldn't change day to day. When you can go a few blocks over to the local Walmart and get the same thing for half the cost. It gets two stars from me just because I'm feeling generous.
You guys ripped me off again. I took 14 bucks for a seriously amazing console in amazing shape. With the best games for it. Meanwhile, I'm looking at Nintendo 64s for 104 dollars. And you were texted by your worker bee who was amazed by my collection. You are ripping off the community and I don't have any reason to return to your "store" again. I will tell everyone that even hints at going inside...
Read moreI came in North Plate, last Wednesday evening, excited that there was a comic shop in town. As I was browsing what I thought were new release comics but were months old back issues, I found a gem. The Seven Secrets Jenny Frison virgin variant, sitting right behind a stack of the trade dress copies. This book was not marked in any special way or price. So I assumed it was cover price. In all my excitement, I never asked if this was a mistake. I just grabbed it and thought "their books, their policy." So I continued my shopping amd approached the counter. When I reached the counter, the young man, who had no idea what the book was or who the artist was, scans it and says, "This is a hundred dollar book." (Then why was it on the shelf like all the other 3.99 copies?) He closes the bag and sets it behind him. Like it was no longer for sale. This left me speechless. Like I found something valuable that the store had no idea they owned. I was not made an offer to purchase the book at an elevated price or given the chance to offer any value for it. I left the rest of my stack on the counter and went home. I was afraid the rest of my pile would have been priced at current values instead of the advertised cover prices. I cannot support a business that is so careless about their stock and their customers. Unlikely to go back for comics but if you like games, this is the...
Read moreStaff is extremely rude and condescending. Attempted to go to a magic pre-release and was several minutes late due to a work obligation, not only would they not allow my fiancee and I to participate, but they refused to give us our money back for the event, even though it was never stated that the fee was non-refundable (I have since checked with wizards of the coast, and we should have been entitled to a full refund). I have reported them to the official wizards network for their blatant rule violations to hopefully resolve this matter. I DO NOT recommend this store to anyone who is just passing through or wanting to shop as they will ask you to leave or hover over you until you buy something you don't want. If they don't kick you out, they will insult you based on things that you are considering purchasing. It should also be noted that this is NOT a child friendly store because of the clientele that frequents the store, even though they carry a great many products that your children would be interested in (video games, comics, cards, etc.). All around this store is just a terrible experience, not to be...
