The worst place I lived in. My life was a living hell for the two years I was there.
For one, the apartment was so old and had many problems, such as the stove not working properly, the fridge had broken trays, the carpet was super old/musty, broken windows etc. Iāll admit, the maintenance man, Richard, was quick and efficient to get things fixed. He could only do so much. He was the only positive thing about this place.
There was also a cockroach infestation in my building. Yes COCKROACHES. They sent an exterminator to clear the entire unit where the cockroach nest was, but the other units in the building were told we could not use our kitchen and had to empty all our pantry items and dishes and basically leave our cupboards completely empty while the guy sprayed and it dried, around 2-3 days. Do you know what an inconvenience it is to PACK YOUR ENTIRE KITCHEN, not have access to cook/eat, and then organize all the dishes/pantry items again. Fine Iāll do it because I donāt want bugs. I thought this was the end of it. One week later, they told us WE HAD TO DO THE WHOLE PROCESS AGAIN BECAUSE THE COCKROACHES DIDNāT DIE. (Which, by the way, they lied and never admitted to the infestation and said this was a preventative measure but an employee told me the truth.)
Next, the neighbors were sketchy and scary, with pitbulls and large dog breeds allowed to roam around. People smoking constantly outside and INSIDE the units, so much so, the smoke came up my ventilation from the unit below. Cops were called many times over couples fighting/screaming at each other, and another time I witnessed a man in my building get arrested by two US Marshalls. Felt very unsafe as a woman living there.
To top it all off, my rent was increased by almost $600 after my first year. $600!!! I was told this new price was now up to market value. The only reason I chose this place in the first place was because of the price. I was not expecting a luxury apartment by any means and put up with all the bad because of how low I was paying. However, I didnāt know it would be THIS bad. I was given less than 60 days notice to vacate or pay up. And if I wanted to go month-to-month it would go up ANOTHER $300. I felt my hands were tied and chose to stay another year with the plan in mind to move out after this second year.
The parent company that owns these apartments called AMC LLC (Apartment Management Consultants) are awful to deal with. I tried to negotiate terms, price, anything, and they did not care. Just look at their Google page, terrible reviews.
Also, the property managers are nice but they are very overwhelmed because for some reason, AMC moves them around to another property after 3-6 months. So they finally get acquainted with residents and with the property and then they are moved. So weird!
Lastly, I will say the anxiety, stress, and instability this place brought me for two years was not worth it!!!
This is based on my opinions and experiences I had while...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo far my experience at Woods Crossing has been amazing! Erica is beyond amazing! She helped me get everything ready for me to move in. Our maintenance person is fantastic. The apartment I ended up in is a 2bed 1bath on the top floor, neighbors are quiet which is a huge plus from my previous apartment experiences. Rent is really well priced considering the prices everywhere else Iāve looked. The complex is clean, lots of parking, an option for covered parking, internet is included in rent, thereās a pool thatās open in summer. Iām so happy I picked this complex to call home.
Updated Review: July 17, 2025 So I originally wrote this review when I moved into the complex Feb 2024. Things went down hill at this complex pretty quickly. I had no AC for over a year. When they said the problem was fixed it was right when fall hit and the temperatures cooled off so I was using my heater. That wasnāt the case. Summer 2025 came around and my apartment would not cool down. It would sit between 86-94° (photos of therm sitting at 84°) in my place. I complained, put in multiple maintenance requests and their response was that it was my fault it wasnāt working. Apparently I ran my AC too much which caused it to freeze over. I left the AC off for almost a week and when I turned it back on it froze back over less than 24hrs having it running (photo 2 unit frozen back over). I asked maintenance to fix it but I was again told it was my fault. I got a window unit that was supposedly going to cool off my whole apartment. It sort of cooled off my bedroom, the rest of the house was horrible.
Next the āamazingā office manager Erica didnāt redo my lease properly and caused me to have an apartment for an extra month.
Photos 3-9 are all from the intake vent under the AC unit. I had to pray the vent off to even be able to try to clean it properly as they just paint over them. Maintenance straight out told me after I had moved in that they donāt clean the air vents and ducts and havenāt since he started working there. Maybe had they cleaned these things there would be less HVAC problems. I was vacuuming the outside of the vent to remove pet hair.
My garbage disposal went out twice and I was yet again told it was MY fault because I supposedly had put bones down my disposal yet I donāt put any form of meat down my garbage disposal as i know exactly what happens when you do. I am also 90% vegetarian and both times these incidents happened I was not eating meat at all.
The complex canāt seem to keep an office manager and so thereās constantly temps and people quitting anywhere from 2-14 days of working there which makes getting maintenance requests actually done because thereās nobody in the office to approve the requests.
I regret ever moving into this complex. Save your money go find somewhere a little more with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately, I now feel obligated to warn current and prospective residents about the extremely rigid and financially burdensome lease termination process at this property. Despite being a responsible, quiet tenant who has consistently paid rent on time, Iāve found the new management completely unwilling to work with me during a difficult financial time.
After months of communication, Iāve pleaded with the leasing office to release me from my lease just one month early due to a major change in my financial situation. I will soon be moving in with family to stay afloat financially. However, new management has shown no flexibility.
Their policy requires: ⢠60 daysā written notice ⢠PLUS payment of an additional two monthsā rent, even if you plan to vacate early ⢠No exceptions, even for financial hardship or long-standing tenants
To try and compromise, I even offered to forfeit my security deposit if they would simply allow me to end my lease in August. Still, they refused.
At this point, I am being forced to pay close to $1,700/month for a 600 sq. ft. unit, which is not only unreasonable for the space but entirely unaffordable for my current situation. Fees have stacked up quickly, and Iām now locked into a lease I cannot sustain.. with no way out except to pay thousands more.
If youāre considering moving here, please think carefully. The apartment may seem appealing at first, but the lack of flexibility, empathy, and tenant support from the new management is deeply disappointing. This complex may not be the right fit for anyone who values fairness or anticipates life changes during their lease .
Original review: I initially had nothing but positive things to say about Woods Crossing and the apartment manager, Mary. I toured the apartments a few 2 years ago ago to see what my options were Mary answered all of my questions and was helpful, friendly, and has made me feel like a valuable resident.
When I decided to go with the unit, a few months later, the application was processed within 24 hours and I was approved! Mary is a great communicator and was sure to answer any question I had. Upon moving in, the unit was extremely clean and I am so happy with my new home! The complex is very quiet and feels extremely safe. I don't hear my neighbors through the...
