I am sadly disappointed in this Kroger location. I have yet to ever leave a review but I feel this is important to share with the community. I am very angry at the pitiful service I received from both a Kroger employee and the female manager who was working this afternoon.
. I just recently moved to Plymouth and have been shopping here for months. Usually I stop and get groceries every week and know some familiar faces. Today I happened to be with my friend who had a separate order from me when we entered self scan. I was purchasing alcohol so I had my ID ready for review. . I am 29 years old and have never had an issue purchasing alcohol as I presented with a valid identification . Before the cashier at self scan could even look at my ID she asked my friend, who was not part of the order for her ID as well. My friend so happened to be standing next to me. The cashier refused to sell to me because her reason being āshe was uncomfortableā and āI looked underageā however I had valid identification. I asked to speak with the supervisor because she could not provide me with a valid reason why she felt āuncomfortableā. My friend ended up going to a different line and buying her groceries and I tried to explain my situation. The manager however happened to ignore me stating āthe cashier felt uncomfortableā and kept repeating herself, however she could not provide a valid reason regardless of my ID and age. When I explained I have purchased alcohol multiple times here and never had an issue I did not get a response, nor could the manager give me a response as to why the cashier felt āuncomfortableā when I had proper identification.
My friend is a 31 year old Muslim women. I truly believe the employees here discriminate and I am deeply saddened by the service I was given by both the employees and the manager who seems incompetent and could not even provide me with an explanation. I have never had an issue with purchasing alcohol until today. I have never been questioned and because of the embarrassment my friend and I received at self scan, in front of other customers I will never shop at this Kroger ever again.
Sadly I must say. This review is coming from a former Kroger employee who worked for the company for seven years. I would have never treated a customer this way, especially if they were able to provide valid Identification that they were of age to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCovid messed this place up or Kroger, like so many companies, is being cheap and not hiring night staff to restock shelves overnight ā it used to be my grocery store of choice. In fact, Iāve been going to this location since it was a farmers jack and then converted to a Kroger. But now with other options being available, especially that there is going to be a new Meijers right by my house⦠Saturday early mornings usually between 8 and 9 AM is my go to shopping time otherwise Iām stuck doing it in the evening after weeks during the work week-But I find it doesnāt matter when I go. They are not stocked. I have a weekly grocery list. I buy basically the same items every week. And out of the 25 - 30 items I need, I have to go to another store to get at least 10 of the items- and each week itās a different 10 items. Clearly, these are popular items which means you need to order more of them and stock them more frequently -
I stopped buying produce at Krogerās years ago because it was never fresh or a good quality. It turned so quickly.-And often the area wasnāt well stocked-
The deli can be hit or miss as far as staffing and being open when I am there in the early morning. So Iāve completely stopped getting any deli from Kroger.
I have 4 Krogers within driving distance to my house and each one lacks in many areas across the board-Some of them are so dirty Sometimes you can smell the seafood, which isnāt a good thing- friendliness of the staff is hit or miss. There are 3 at this location, who typically are at the self checkout and they are very nice-
At this point better off shopping at Meijers and now that theyāre opening a Meijers close to my house, Kroger wonāt be on my list of places to shop- Meijers is equal to or less than price on the same items that I would purchase from Kroger and they are always...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWatch a Kroger commercial on TV and you'll see a company touting low prices and customers dancing in the aisles over them. Actually visit a Kroger and you'll experience something decidedly different. From store management to frontline staff, morale is low, low, low, low, low, low, low (key the music). Stores are woefully understaffed. The few folks who are working appear constantly overwhelmed and unsupported (by vagrant/absentee store management). Self-checkout lines grow excruciatingly long while regular checkout aisles remained closed for lack of employees. Inconvenienced customers mill about rolling their eyes at each other over the grueling, grocery shopping experience while a minimal complement of clerks try to manage the daily, congested mess. Honestly, it's hard to watch. If Kroger sold anything other than the basic food staples required to sustain life, I'd never step foot in their stores anymore. It's a sad experience in the death of customer service, a failed investment in automation, and a travesty of corporate apathy. I keep watching your commercials, Kroger. And wondering how much lower you'll go before the bottom falls out of your operational grocery bag. Your employees aren't happy. Your customers aren't happy. I see a sad ending to your...
