Michaels — Local services in Northville Charter Township

If I could give this place zero stars I would. First of the all the staff, no. The guy working at the register was soo rude to my 3 year old. My children are well-behaved and my 3 year old went about 4 feet away from me to look at a cool Halloween decoration and this man stopped scanning my stuff to watch my kid like a hawk and then proceeds to say, I hope he doesn’t touch that and break it. Like excuse me?? He’s literally looking at it and I just told him just looking no touching. Beyond rude!! I almost thought he was joking bc it was such a weird comment!!

Second of all, the self check out kiosk was sooooo slowwwww and annoying what a waste of time. Doesn’t accept cash either which is annoying.

And third, their selection sucks compared to Novi and canton stores!!!! It’s way smaller and they basically had no Halloween decor in the middle of October.

I was so looking forward for this store being out here and I will never go back. Michaels is supposed to be a fun store where arts and crafts ideas can come to life but instead it’s where little WELL BEHAVED children are scrutinized and watched over like their thieves. This location is newer - and super clean. The aisles are always well stocked and organized. The only thing that I don't love is that they don't seem to have a classroom for the classes? Or if they did - maybe it was double booked.. I was in last Saturday and they were hosting a children's birthday party over near the seasonal stuff (which is what I was most excited about seeing). They didn't say anything about me not being able to go and look at stuff that was blocked out with the makeshift classroom - but I felt really weird. Additionally, It was VERY loud and overwhelming hearing all the commotion throughout the store while trying to shop, because with the high ceilings, the sound travels.

All of the employee's - with the exception of one, were SO wonderful! They were nice, kind, and happy to help with any questions that I had. The other employee, might have just been having a bad day, but the attitude and talking on the floor for everyone to hear - was not...

This location is pretty small and have been disappointed each time I visit. Their jewelry selection is mostly beads and chains which sucks because I primarily shop at craft stores for their unique charms. The charm section is maybe 2 ft wide and no end caps with fun seasonal ones. Out of the 3 times I’ve been there I’ve only ever seen one staff member on floor so if you have a hard time finding something you’re completely on your own. Self checkout is nice and fast, easy to use coupons. But they definitely need more staff on the floor helping people find stuff, and more at checkout. Last time I went the self checkout scanned my item twice and in order to remove it staff was needed, but the one person working checkout had a line and people waiting to the side for her help already. After waiting a few minutes I just canceled the associate help and checked out, taking the loss on the extra item I didn’t get. Corporate needs to give them more...
