Dr. Santapaola was very professional and finally got to the bottom of what had been causing my 12-year-old daughter to have terrible stomach pains and nausea for over three years. My daughter had a bout of food poisoning three years ago and went from being my happy go lucky child to a very sad and sickly little girl overnight. I took her to four different gastroenterologists in Brooklyn and Manhattan and they did not find anything wrong with her. I then did my own research and concluded that she must have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). I went back to one of the doctors that I had seen in Manhattan and told her that I thought my daughter had SIBO. The doctor in Manhattan told me that children do not get SIBO and that she was not willing to do a breath test to see if my daughter had SIBO. She then recommended that my daughter see a therapist because she thought my daughter’s stomach problems were due to anxiety. It was at that point that I decided to seek the help of a naturopathic doctor. I chose Dr. Santapaola because she was in Connecticut which was fairly close to New York City and because her prices were far more reasonable than some of the other naturopathic doctors that I had found online. From the first moment that I met Dr. Santapaola, I knew that we were in good hands. She listened very openly to my daughter’s history and to my theory that my daughter had SIBO. She agreed that SIBO was a possible diagnosis and recommended that my daughter receive a breath test, which she prescribed and had sent to our home. She also ordered blood work, which I was able to have drawn from a lab that accepted my health insurance. From the blood work, she identified that my daughter was severely deficient in vitamin D and somewhat deficient in several B vitamins. She prescribed some supplements for my daughter, which helped greatly to increase her energy levels and reduced her nausea. We performed the breath test at home and sent off the results and when Dr. Pamela called us with the results confirming that my daughter’s breath samples were highly indicative of her having SIBO, we were overjoyed to finally have a diagnosis. Dr. Santapaola recommended that my daughter go on Xifaxan to treat the SIBO but as a naturopathic doctor, she is not licensed to prescribe antibiotics. However, I was able to take the results of this breath test to another gastroenterologist that I found in Manhattan at Columbia Children’s Hospital who accepted my health insurance and she agreed to prescribe my daughter the Xifaxan. By the second day on the Xifaxan my daughter’s nausea was gone for the first time in three years. She completed her course of antibiotics and has had no nausea ever since (it’s been 6 weeks now.) Dr. Pamela also suggested some supplements to help repair my daughter’s intestinal lining and recommended a particular brand of probiotics for her to take as well. She has been taking all of these supplements and everyday I am seeing more and more of her happy go lucky spirit return. It has been a long and difficult three years and we feel so relieved and grateful to have found Dr. Santapaola. I had several questions along the way, which I would email her about and she always responded quickly and thoroughly. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable and kind. I highly...

Dr. Nelson, however is messy. End of April 2022, he performed cupping on my back. He was busy with another client in the other room, and left cups all over my back for 30 minutes. I had probably 40 blisters under two cups, which left dark scars. He told me that they will go away in 3 days and I do not need to go to the doctor, which I wish I did right away instead of waiting as he told me to. It caused me immense pain and discomfort for weeks until it healed. I emailed him a few days later to update him on what’s going on and he replied with a cold response without any remorse.
I don’t write bad reviews, but it has been about 7 months and I have spent so much time and money on treatments to eliminate the scars to no avail. This has given me so much anxiety and stress. In attempt to the hide the scars, I couldn’t wear half of my wardrobe all summer. Now I am going on vacation soon, so I have to buy new things to cover these marks on my upper back, as I am currently looking for PRP treatments (out of my own pocket) to erase them. It is ridiculous and unfair that I went to him for healing and left with more trauma. I hope you think twice before getting...
Read moreDr. Nelson is truly a heaven send for me and my family. My three year-old, autistic son has been receiving services and therapy for years to help improve his overall milestone achievements. With minimal improvement, I searched for something more. That is when I found Dr Nelson. After our first appointment, I felt welcomed and hopeful again. He created a plan for my child and we instantly saw changes.
My son went from nonverbal to verbal. He began requesting his wants and needs. He is now talking in small sentences, counting to 100, identifying more than 200 items, and even spelling out three letter words. I also notice that he is more connected with the world around him and as a result, he is thriving in so many more aspect of his day to day life. My child is no longer disconnected and spaced out. Even family members notice the wonderful changes. I spread awareness to other autism parents every chance I get!
I want to thank Dr. Nelson as I cannot thank him enough!
