I contacted Red Wall about six months ago to inquire about a one-off embroidery job since they were close and local. The person who answered the phone was very friendly and left a good impression on me. Although I never placed the short-run order, I recently started a new business with some needs, so I immediately thought of Red Wall. Based on my current and future needs, I went up to Red Wall to speak to someone about setting up a business account with them. However, when I arrived and inquired, everyone looked at me as if I wasn't supposed to be there. After a few minutes, someone came out and told me they don't set up accounts and just to come back or email when I was ready.
A few weeks later, I returned with the items I needed to be embroidered. I was excited to get these pieces done finally and to start building a relationship with Red Wall as they offered other services I would need in the future. However, when I arrived, there was again a moment of initial confusion with no genuine welcome or greeting. After a few minutes, I was again given a card, told to email over a list of the items and needs, and someone would get back to me. I packed up my things and did just that.
After sending the email, I was handed off to another person in the sales division. The overall communication was okay, but there was a period where I had to follow up with a call to get a reply. Although I wanted to work with Red Wall, these small instances were beginning to add up. When it came time for pricing, I was quoted $100.00 per image to digitize. When I explained that I had never paid that much and asked if we could work on that pricing, I was told no, and that the size I needed was why it was so expensive, which I knew wasn't true. However, I again let it slide because I wanted to work with them.
After agreeing to the pricing, I asked to come in and go over my order. I received a response that read in part, "Is there a reason for us to meet in person?". At that point, I knew this was not the place for me. Onboarding a new customer should be easy. Ultimately, through a referral, I found another company that charged me $40.00 for digitizing and waived my second fee due to the size of the order I placed. They sat down with me, reviewed my entire order, and charged me 1/3 less than Red Wall. With that savings, I was able to get additional items ordered.
Overall, while Red Wall has its strong points, I recommend exploring other options if you are a small business or individual looking for services. Finding a company that prioritizes customer service, fosters a welcoming atmosphere, and is receptive to new business is crucial.
Update:

Read moreRedwall has become our new go-to screen printer. We’ve used them a few times for smaller print jobs and have found both their customer service and quality to be spot on. They are reachable, responsive and able to accommodate a tight turn-around time in a pinch. As the owner of a marketing company, I’ve worked with several screen printing companies in the past, and it’s been a rough road... outdated technology, lousy customer service and products that weren’t available when we needed them. This is NOT the case at Redwall - what a breath of fresh air! Looking forward to doing more business together - and supporting another...
