I would highly advise not buying anything from this store for a multitude of reasons. I will say I did have a good experience in the store, the sales person was helpful and I walked out of there feeling like we had gotten what we wanted. I could not have been more wrong.
Here are some, but not all, of the issues:
We were told all the items except for one were in stock in the warehouse and it should only be another week or two until the other item arrives. It wound up being 5 weeks after we placed the order when the item showed up at the warehouse, several weeks after we were initially told.
I had to call the store on a couple occasions to inquire about the status of my order. One of the times I was told my sales person was not there and he would call me back the next day. I never received a call.
I received a call the day before the scheduled delivery and confirmed a 2-6p delivery window the next day. The driver called me at 11:45a and said he was in the area and could swing by in 30 minutes. After telling him no one would be home at that time, I was told they had other deliveries and they would have to re-schedule. He made it seem like it was my fault I could not adjust my schedule on a minutes notice to accommodate theirs. After speaking with the delivery manager, they honored the original window and showed up at 2.
Several of the pieces had significant damage coming off the truck. There were large scratches on the table and even a chunk of a leg missing. They all went back to the warehouse. Come to find out all the furniture is shipped from the factory in nice packaging, but everything is unpacked at the warehouse to be assembled. The pieces are then thrown on a truck and slide all over the place banging into each other (despite moving blankets). No wonder pieces show up damaged.
I received a call from the individual who sold me the furniture wanting to know what happened. After explaining, they said they would check with the warehouse and get back to me in ~10min with some options. 2 hours passes and I hear nothing. After calling the store and speaking with someone else, I find out the sales guy is now on a lunch break and never contacted the warehouse.
At this point, I have no confidence in their business so I call back to cancel the order. 10 minutes later I finally get the order cancelled despite his best efforts to convince me otherwise. When I asked the amount I was getting back, it was nearly $150 less than what I paid. I was told the delivery fee was non-refundable per company policy. It took me a few minutes, but I was able to get that refunded too.
I received a call a few days later saying the refund had been processed. Unfortunately, a week later I still had not seen the money. I call back and was eventually told that they would process the refund. I pointed out that he told me a week ago that was going to happen, and his response was that wasn't his problem and nothing he could control.
As you can see, it was one problem after another with this business. I highly recommend you DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH...
Read morePoor customer service and respect for our time. My husband and I went to Chair King on March 23rd looking for Adirondack chairs. We made our purchase minutes after arriving with our salesman, Tim, and he said the order should arrive in 10 days. I called to follow up on April 15th after hearing nothing. Tim was out, but I was told that the chairs had not arrived at the warehouse, let alone the store…23 days later…but they should arrive at the store on April 18th. I called on April 19th after hearing nothing. After doing some checking, Tim was able to locate the chairs at the warehouse (but closed for the Good Friday holiday) and planned to ship them to the store. I asked if they could be shipped direct to our home…he agreed and said they would “eat the delivery fee.” The chairs should arrive on Monday. The chairs did not arrive on Monday. I called on Tuesday and ultimately spoke with the assistant manager, Desare, who was less than helpful. I explained the situation and her comment to me was that they didn’t have “enough money invested in this” to justify covering the delivery fee. Um, what? (A little history, we spent about $7,000 just a few months prior). She would talk with Tim to figure out a solution and call me back…never heard back. I called a couple hours later and Desare said that Tim would personally deliver the chairs on Thursday after they arrived at the store…I thought they were already on a UPS truck to the store?!? I called on Thursday morning to confirm delivery and was told that both Tim AND Desare were out. What?!?! The man I spoke with offered to call Tim, but no answer. He said he would continue to try to get in touch with him and have him call me back…nothing...and no delivery. On Friday, I called again…talked to Desare…she said that Tim was coming in at 11:30a and would deliver the chairs by 12:30p. I left work early to wait for delivery. Shortly after, I received a TEXT from Tim telling me he had the day off, would it be okay to deliver the chairs on Saturday morning before he went to work? I reluctantly agreed. On Saturday morning, I received a TEXT from Tim stating that he had come down with a stomach bug and would not be able to deliver the chairs. I was beyond FURIOUS. I immediately responded, told him that we were done and wanted a full refund. He offered to talk to his corporate office when he got back to work the next day. Ultimately, I was told that they would not offer a refund but that he was on his way with the chairs. He arrived about an hour later, in his personal car. After 36 days, we FINALLY received our chairs. We are MOST disappointed in the customer service offered by this Chair King and will not do business with them again. I do appreciate Tim's efforts in the end, but the time lost and inconvenience was unnecessary. After sharing our story with neighbors and friends, we found that several others have shared similar frustrations...
Read moreCurtis is THE MAN! My wife and I really just stopped by on the way home "just looking" as we always are when we do find the time to go shop for things we need. I knew there was a little sale going on and we both wanted to actually sit in a few patio chairs. After he greeted us in the first chairs we happened to sit in, he asked us one or two questions on how the chairs felt, what we thought and then immediately took us to another set of patio furniture. Another question or two of what we thought of those, he took us straight to the furniture we ended up liking and liked enough to buy. Already running quick numbers in my head accounting for the sale they had going on, I knew we had found ourselves falling for a patio set that was a little more than what I was willing to spend. Curtis encouraged us to "discuss whether or not we really loved this set and not to worry about the price". We didn't need to discuss anything, we knew we loved the chairs. The ONLY thing left to worry about was the price. Maaaaaaaan. Curtis strolled over to the counter and strolled on back a few moments later calm, cool and collected like he knew he had a sale. At this point, I'm laughing a bit on the inside because this man has no idea how cheap I am. Ha! Welp, he got me. He made an offer that even the Ebenezer in me couldn't refuse. This is probably the best experience I have ever had for "not so small" purchase. When I sell a car, I hope my customers finish working with me and feel the way Curtis made us feel about the whole process. I can check a box off the "to-do" list and I don't even have to worry about it after the fact because it was a SMOKIN deal! Ask for Curtis, don't...
