Kindred Spirits Animal Clinic — Local services in Oak Ridge

We feel compelled to share what happened to my dog during his recent stay at Kindred Spirits, so no other pet owner has to go through what we did. We’ve trusted this facility in the past to care for our dog while we’re away. This time, however, their negligence put his health at serious risk, and to make matters worse, they’ve done nothing to address our concerns despite multiple attempts to contact them. While he was boarded, they called to say his food had “run out” and they’d be feeding him theirs, but when we picked him up, his food was still sitting there untouched. They even admitted they “forgot to mix it.” As a result, he came home vomiting, with liquid diarrhea, and had to be rushed to the vet. The vet found he’d lost significant blood and could have developed an infection ,costing us over $400 in emergency care, on top of the $500 we paid for boarding. This isn’t even the first time, a similar issue happened during a previous stay. Even then, they failed to call us when he was ready for pickup, leaving him there an extra night unnecessarily. The most upsetting part? After sharing all of this with management and giving them the chance to make things right, they have completely ignored me. No apology. No reimbursement. No concern whatsoever for my dog’s health or well-being. We trusted Kindred Spirits to care for a beloved member of our family, and they failed us in every way. This is long but honest. When my cat became gravely ill, I looked at reviews for local hospitals near me to take him. I saw that Kindred Spirits had higher than average ratings, so I took him there. I had no idea the level of care that me and my pet were going to receive. Not only did I get twice a day updates, but when things got bad I know Dr. Kindred came in specifically when he wasn't supposed to be working to take care of my cat. His staff is extremely empathetic, kind hearted, and personable. When I was worried about payment, they even looked up local organizations that would be able to help in case of an emergency. I mean, I could have googled that, but instead of shrugging me off and saying "figure it out" they actually took the few extra minutes to compile a list of organizations that I could reach out to if things kept getting worse because I was worried and stressed. The staff spent time with my cat to make sure he was being loved and not just sitting in a cage hooked up to tubes and miserable. When I was worried, instead of pawning me off on another staff member Dr. Kindred talked me through everything that was going on, what my options were, and how he can help. I have been to numerous animal clinics but Kindred Spirits Animal Clinic captured my heart. They managed to squeeze in my cat the same day despite the many vets I desperately called. I expressed my urgent concern after coming from an ER visit and they did not hesitate to squeeze my fur baby in their schedule. Despite a bad storm headed our way Dr. Kindred waited to care for my cat before heading out. In addition, prices are reasonable and they do NOT take advantage of costing you money when it’s not necessary. I absolutely admire all the people who work here especially the technician and Dr. Kindred. Everyone is friendly, warm hearted and welcoming. It felt very personable like family. The staff treated my cats as if it were their own pets. With lots of care and love. Both my cats Mylo and Paccha love the staff and Dr. Kindred. Dr. Kindred is the ONLY doctor I have ever seen my cats remain calm with. I was quite in shock and impressed. He was EXCELLENT and figured out the solution to the problem rather quickly. He explained everything and answered my many questions with patience. Also, after every visit they always call to check on your fur babies to see how they are doing.
