ive been going to this thrift store for about two years now and i’ve never had problems i’ve always loved it, but during my most recent experience with my friend we needed to look for warm clothes for a trip. We had a decently high budget and planned on spending a good amount but after we picked out everything we liked and started going through it, it turned out we had a little to much so we made a pile of our no’s to make it easier for the employees but the whole time we where there two workers kept seeming to be following us and judging us. They would harshly stare us down and it seemed to me like they were judging us for shopping at the store they work at. Later on another redhead employee comes up to us and tells us that we have to move our own clothes and pick everything up which keep in mind we didn’t make a mess we only put a few clothes we couldn’t efford but she comes and makes us grab a bunch of clothes and bring them to the front because “she can’t hold them” for some reason. Then all the employees surround us and stare at us in the front of the store. They question us make us look ridiculous for having a bug pile of clothes . The redheaded employee proceeded to ask us why we grabbed so many clothes and that it would take her employees forever to put back but i have worked at Once Upon A Child. I am not stupid it was a small stack of clothes that they put onto a Z bar and just rolled out and put back in two seconds. That is the whole reason they are working there is it not? Then we are going to check out and it is well over $100 we spent about $170 total and for multiple items she told us ohh this jacket one of our employees must have priced it wrong i can’t sell it to you for this then she rings it up for significantly more. For multiple other things she falsely accused us of switching tags and need I remind you again I worked in a higher end used retail store. I know what a switched tag looks like and frankly is super hard time consuming and obvious when a tag is switched. Nevertheless we concluded our transactions and left. Most of the time there are always really nice people working but i don’t recall seeing the redheaded employee in many of my other thrift shopping visits. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you enjoy thrifting for hours at a time, which i normally love doing. If you want a good thrift experience go to the americas thrift over on beach blvd. The employees have always treated me amazing. They’ve always been so help-full upbeat and happy. If you want to feel a cyclone of emotions go to OS americas thrift where they’ll make you feel watched, guilty for no reason, they’ll rush you and judge you for shopping and then make you go through and clean up everything when it’s not even your job. :) 10/10...
Read moreI used to really like this store , but it seems to be going the way of a lot of other thrift stores lately. The prices for these second hand clothes and shoes , ( more than anything) small appliances , and whatnot is getting ridiculously overpriced. The whole idea behind thrift store shopping is to attain gently used items for a much lower price. Why would I spend $15 for a used toaster or coffee maker when I can pay the same price for a brand new one under at least a limited warranty ? Why would someone pay $10 for a pair of Faded Glory ( Walmart brand ) Jeans when they're only $12 to $15 brand new ( or less if on clearance) ? And not be able to try on any of the clothing being purchased and with no option to even return said purchases if they don't fit . This store (chain) in particular was started with the intention of helping veterans with the money generated from the sales of these items , which is a very noble and worthy cause . However they're killing sales that would benefit the very people that they are supposed to be helping with the absolutely absurd prices that have been set for the items they receive from 100% donated items . And while I realize things like electricity and gas for the trucks that collect these donations aren't free it seems as though they are not using their resources wisely because for quite some time at this particular location there were many trailers dropped off by drivers just left sitting all around the lot full of donations and I know this because vandles had broken into these trailers and taken what they wanted around Christmas time and left the doors hanging open and you could clearly see that from floor to ceiling they were full spilling out on to the ground. And while paying employees to work at these places are also a cost to be considered, I see a lot of young kids goofing off and playing around with management present and customer service lacking greatly. The restrooms are atrocious and something to be concerned about given our recent circumstances with diseases and unsanitary conditions of any sort should never be tolerated in a business setting that is open to the public and has a large number of customers frequenting the location. Not only for the consumer but also for the safety and well being of the employees that are subjected to the unsanitary conditions daily. I do agree that if this organization is loosing money that changes need to be made , however an extensive and thorough look into the company's policies, procedures, and practices would be a better place to start, rather than just passing the buck so to speak and raising the prices for the customer who is CHOOSING to shop...
Read moreI don't recommend getting a furniture from here. I have already contacted them with the seriousness of the situation that a loveseat we bought from them had bed bugs, and now the new beds we bought when we moved into our home has them and I just destroyed my home killing them! I am so embarrassed because we didn't have them until we brought this loveseat into our home. I threw it outside about a week ago, and I just went and looked at it, and inside the folds, low and behold, there they are. I noticed bites on my child and then investigated to find them all over our box springs nesting. If they don't take care of it, I will bring a cup full of them to their store and show them what the heck they gave me. Also, the guy on the phone openly admitted they don't check for bed bugs because they're impossible to find. "Unless the furniture is covered in bugs, it gets put out on the floor." His...
