The Ocean Springs Mega Store must be under new management because I had an unfavorable experience today with a manager I have never seen before at this location. I have been very supportive of all the Goodwills on the Gulf Coast. I shop at most of the locations on a weekly basis from Ocean Springs to Gulfport. However, today I dropped in to do some quick shopping while my son was in an after school activity. I had been at this location the day before so I spent about an hour in the store shopping today and found some items I was going to get. The last 2 items I found were 2 women's blazers/jackets. I went to check out and as I was removing my items from the hangers for the cashier as is my normal routine, she disappeared. I wasn't sure where she had gone as she didn't say anything before she left. I just looked up and she was gone. That was until she came out of the back office with a male manager I had never seen at this location before. He came up and began asking where I had found one of the jackets. I pointed to the racks and said over there with the women's jackets; it was right next to the other one I was also purchasing. He said, well he needed to tell me some things because that jacket was going to be more expensive. I was confused. He then proceeds to tell me that the jacket I got (a Trina Turk bolero jacket which is mind you a dated style from around 10 years ago) is going to be more because it should be for sale on ShopGoodwill.com or at the "special" Goodwill at Edgewater Mall. My response was "well I found it on the rack right with this other jacket." He said well if I want to buy it is going to be $99.99!!! I was SHOCKED! I shop at the Goodwill Select store at Edgewater (the store he called the "special" store) and I have NEVER seen a jacket for $99.99 there. Especially considering you can resell a Trina Turk bolero on Poshmark for MAYBE $30...NOT $99.99. I told him that I was upset because I have never seen a price that high for any item at any of the Goodwills on the Coast. In fact, I have bought higher end designer items from the Goodwills on the Gulf Coast and nothing has ever been priced close to that amount. He wasn't budging and since I wasn't going to pay the ridiculous amount of $99.99 for a dated jacket, he took the jacket in his office. I was steaming but the cashier was trying to be nice and "explain away" what had just happened. The manager came out and said he was only going to charge me $1.50 for the other jacket I was buying for my trouble. Seems like inconsequential to offer a couple dollars when you just basically took an item that was on your floor for sale away from a customer? I am not one to make a scene so I just polite and said thank you but was seething internally as the cashier continued to try to make light of the situation. I have to say that I have NEVER had this happen to me before. All of the other local Goodwills are so kind. There have been so many times when I have found an item on the rack with no price and they would offer it at the regular price or for a reasonable price. I felt targeted especially with such an inflated amount as $99.99. For someone who supports Goodwill as much as I do, it's a shame that I couldn't have been treated differently. I mean, I bought a beautiful Gucci dress from America's Thrift Store for $29.99. I don't plan to return to this location after the way I was...
Read moreI almost exclusively shop for clothes at goodwill and I wear a 2x shirt. Although there is a section marked 2x, it is ALWAYS filled with every single shirt size. And 2x shirts can be found in all of the other sections too. It is chaos to the point that there is no excuse other than a complete lack of interest on the part of the management. It has always been like this at this store. On Wednesday, 4-28-21, I was there and saw a very elderly man looking for shirts and he was getting very frustrated that he had a hard time reading every single size label, but he had to because so many shirts were in the wrong section. SHAME ON GOODWILL for doing this to old people who have to shop there! And, frankly, shame on them for doing this to anyone! I can't even imagine what the women's clothes racks look like! One single person could fix this nightmare in a few hours. Nobody should have to take 2 hours to look through 500 shirts to find one to buy. Especially when they have a system in place to bunch each size together and have...
Read moreI'm a homeless man with a 2 year old pup and I was sitting down outside the store giving my dog water and food when they called the police to remove me from the property. i was not soliciting or begging for money, I currently have 2 jobs trying to save for an apartment and after I had eaten the food I had purchased from the family dollar store adjacent, I had plans to go inside the good will to purchase some shirts for work. But unfortunately I have been banned from the property and for a place that claims to help the homeless they sure have a problem with a homeless man sitting down and giving his dog food and water. Please do not support a business that claims to help the homeless when they don't...
