First off, this hotel is home to lower income people who pool their $$ to pay the weekly rate- I booked for a 10 day stay- due to a family medical emergency with both of my elderly parents having been admitted to 2 separate hospitals. We arrived after 8 pm after traveling over 24 hours- so very tired. I had asked for a quiet out of the way room. The room given was the 1st room right next to the office- NOT a quiet out of the way room. I was told that "requests are considered, but not guaranteed"- I then requested to be moved to another room as one became available- I was told, it was summer and they were fully booked- Last I checked, people check in and out of hotels every day- When entering the room, we were hit with a stench- kind of a mix between stale cigarette smoke and mildew- too tired to care- the towels are like sand paper- they don't provide toiletries, no hair dryer. The bath room was dusty with built up dust in the corners and along the top of the shower. The shower proudly displayed an African American pubic hair- gross- the beds are hard, the pillows offer no support, and the sheets could not be any thinner. While I understand this is a Motel 6, but seriously, no shampoo/conditioner? And a rusty iron- on the 5th day of our stay, we were VERY RUDELY awakened by a very hard pounding on our door and a man shouting that our room was supposed to be vacant. I answered the door and the man very rudely said I was not supposed to be in the room and that I needed to vacate it immediately- I said I had trouble with my key the night before, but the room was mine for another few days- he said "our records state this room should be vacant- guess you need to go to the front desk and get it worked out, otherwise you need to leave. I called and the lady said she realized what happened and apologized for the inconvenience. I told her about how rude the manager was when he banged on our door, and she apologized, and I said it was HE who should apologize- never heard a peep from him. I understand Motel 6 caters to a budget conscious client, but there is no reason for being rude and not supplying basic toiletries. Lesson learned, I know I'm not a budget motel kind of girl. I only stayed here because it was the only hotel available with a kitchenette. I have health issues, which requires me to be able to cook my own food on occasion. I will get a...
Read moreI will never stay here again. I received a smoking room when your site didn't even give me an option. I had no idea that hotels still allowed smoking in rooms! Either way, I should've still received that option. Upon learning this, I was told that there were no other rooms. I told the front desk that I would like to check the condition of the room before proceeding, which she said was fine, but my room wasn't made available until after 3pm (check in is at 3pm). Upon entering the room, it appeared fine (no smoke smell) but it wasn't until later that night that we discovered that they placed us in an adjacent room and the smoke from THEIR room was coming into our room from the adjacent door! Later that night, we left the room and upon coming back, the keycard wouldn't work. The guy at the front tried everything - he changed the batteries three times, took the bottom apart 4 times, reset the code, and even offered me a "master" key that would unlock all the doors in the hotel so I should "be careful with it". Once the master key wouldn't work and 2 hours of this guy trying the same resolution over and over (it was now 2am), he finally called another manager who said the lights flashing indicated that the door was locked on the inside! My teen daughter was in the room and the guy knew this because I told him that knocking on the door wouldn't help cause she had specific instructions to not answer the door and we needed a working key! What I couldn't figure out is why the employee didn't know what the lights meant initially. It was insane. Please train your employees! He should've know this! It would've saved a tremendous amount of time. As far as the smoked out room, we found so many burnt holes in the covers and had to deal with the smoke coming through the adjacent door all night. The hotel staff did accommodate us the following night with a new room. In the new room, the shower dripped ALL night. We tried everything to turn it off and eventually just dealt with it, even though we had to be up at 5am! I've never written a bad review for anyone but this has to be the worst hotel experience...
Read moreIt's been a minute since I wrote a review praising a hotel. I gladly write this review.
I spoke Mr. Mike last night regarding my appreciation for the both the quality and service of his hotel. This property, while older, is undergoing a massive spring cleaning/renovation that, in my opinion, will rank it amongst 4-star properties in/around this area.
My best experience was Mrs Gayle and Mrs Shontel, the Front Desk Leaders. Mr Mike He was funny, personable, and found a way to say yes.
On my 3rd night, the inner latch on the door somehow locked me out. I caught up to Mr Mike and he said "Just give me a minute and I'll have my maintenance guy come take care of it." While this may seem simple, it was one of many efforts Mr Mike underwent to help me. The first day my room did not have good wifi he found a way to move me to another room and so that I could get work done.
I sat in the lobby on my fourth night and watch him. He personified the same kindness and professionalism to everyone. No matter what the issue that arose, Mr Mike went out of his way to help the guest. This one factor will bring me back as a repeat guest. The internet connection was the worst issues I had.
It is a great space and staff is also friendly.
Just like the grounds in and around the hotel, the sleeping rooms, bedding, and bathrooms are very clean. The housekeeping staff were very pleasant.
Keep in mind that this is a family friendly hotel. So, if you don't like noise and kids - this may not be the place for you to stay.
It's also conveniently located with bus routes (north/south) and (east/west). It is only a few blocks from the Beautiful Gulf Coast Beaches You can get to beach in 10-15 minutes by taking the bus for only $2 or if you're in a hurry Uber for about $5 (depending on time of day).
I found the hotel be located in a great area. My favorite places to eat were VK Noodle House, and Starbucks.
Give Studio 6 a chance. The management is very conscientious about its guests and the...
