Horrible place. Regret buying something but it was already brought and paid for. The person who claimed to be the owner screamed at someone who was with his death wife who also had a inhaler on her belt, for not wearing a mask. He loud back then she forced him out. Then this owner turned on the wife who had no idea what was going on behind her who was paying and yelled at her who had no idea what was going. I know she could talk but she cant hear because of watching them throughout the store now and then. If anyone who knows anything about asl. You need your face and hands to communicate. Owner was extremely rude, yelled at us about touching merchandise (we intended to buy), and took the things we were holding for “safe keeping”. Both employees were extremely rude as well; speaking loudly about us as we left. The owner then followed us outside and continued to harass us as we drove away. Every year my family and friends visit Ocracoke on our annual trip to the beach. We always make it a point to stop here for Island Ragpickers original merchandise; however, after this experience we will not be returning. Most of the reviews are not current and several years old. I have been in and out of this place over each time I have been to Ocracoke. I would agree that the selection was good then and you could spend some time going through everything but now not so much. There seems to be far less to look through and the prices are higher.
