Stockroom Street Food — Local services in Ocracoke

I visited Ocracoke Island for the first time this weekend. I discovered an absolutely wonderful take out or stay bistro Stockroom I ate there twice first for breakfast The breakfast burrito is the best ever made with all fresh ingredients complimented with the house brewed coffee At lunch I tried their updog again unbelievable good. What is unique about this hotdog is they include NorthCarolina all beef Brasstown hotdogs topped with pimento cheese Yes pimento cheese I have always been a NC chili and slaw Wow this is sooo good you can substitute sauerkraut if you prefer. YUM I took their shrimp cocktail and deviled eggs to go The shrimp are large and seasoned we ate them for our evening wine event and everyone of our friends raved about the shrimp The food is fabulous and the view as you sit outside is over Silverlake and is spectacular After lunch walk across to the ice cream shop and have a milkshake Say hi to the owners of stockroom Mysha and Austin. This place is awesome. Kind of hidden, but do yourself a favor and find this place…you won’t regret it! Awesome views of a small harbor and the lighthouse in the near distance. We had the spam fried rice. It was really good. Good flavors…very different. If you like heat, I highly suggest this dish. We also had the Thai Fishcakes that basically came in a rice bowl, soooo yummm! Really good flavors. This place sets itself apart from the other places in the area, in a very good way. You will not regret coming here. We also had a sample of the avocado salad and just when we thought it couldn’t get any better…well it did. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. My only regret, I was in the area for only two days but had I been longer my wife and I definitely would have visited several...

We couldn't wait to try this place, and thankfully they opened for the season before our vacation ended. First of all, the location is awesome. The views of Silver Lake and the Lighthouse from their porch are second to none. As for the food....we loved it. My wife had the Thai chicken and I had the spicy spam fried rice. Yes I said spam and it was fantastic. We also had breakfast burritos on our last day and they were terrific as well. We ate at most every restaurant on the island last week and had a lot of amazing food. But when I asked my wife on our drive home..."what was the best thing you ate while on Ocracoke?", she said ..."Stockroom Thai chicken". There isn't much more I can say after that. Great food. Great people. Great...
