Used to go here most every day. The assistant manager whose name begins with a letter past 'M' in the alphabet should be the real manager. The real 'manager' is rarely there. He 'works' from home, meaning the above mentioned assistant manager does all the work. Guess who gets the performance bonuses? You know it, Mr. Lazy, Greedy, the 'manager'. Retail prices on donated items which are used, scratched, somewhat in disrepair, incomplete, dirty and sometimes even thoroughly useless. Think that they are 'green' and saving things from being discarded? 10 large garbage bags of clean, usable house insulation were pulled from their dumpster by me after I was alerted by an employee who quit soon after. That's the least of the waste that I saw there. The present manager has no business running a store based on a degree of reclamation. He'd be much more at home at a Dollar Store or a Big Lots where everything is tidy, packaged, marked and set up for sale by dullards. No imagination on the part of the manager has driven this so-called salvage store into becoming a place where only white light fixtures are sold, only white bathroom fixtures are sold, piles of granite pieces sit piled up on the floor with no simple way to view their colors, no appliances are tested for functionality, beautiful vintage items are sold for scrap because they are made of brass, workers are routinely publicly berated by the manager, no idea from employees is deemed worthy unless the manager can convince himself that it was his to begin with. I could go on and on. No, I was never an employee, just a loyal customer until I saw the root of the greed and lack of compassion exercised by the manager. And this coming from someone who claims to be a Christian. Time to find a new manager, lower prices and serve the community instead of your bulging gut. When I have news that this present manager is fired, I will return, until then, I will spread the word that this is not a decent place to...
Read moreI’ll start by saying I restore vintage homes in Olympia. I shop at this store a lot for original hardware and fixtures as well as furniture. March 16th, 2020 I arrived early, the store opens at 10am, waited at the door with what turned out to be the other employee. A blonde sale associate with blue streaks in her hair, (she didn’t have a name tag and wouldn’t give her name) arrived at 9:59 boots untied looking like she just rolled out of bed. I don’t know who’s managing this store, but this is not the standard of behavior I expect from my employees. Assuming based on the time she was opening the store I proceeded to follow them in. Without a word she closed the door in my face and locked it. I waited till 10:01 for her to then open the door again. I said to her, “ I wish you wouldn’t have closed the door in my face and instead explained it would be just a moment”, she then said without an apology, “store opens at 10am, in a rude tone”. I said it’s just common courtesy, then she huffed and went back to what she was doing. I don’t mind waiting, I’m a patient person, but this person was so rude, it’s unacceptable. It’s my hope someone in charge reads this and talks to her about her lack of etiquette and completely...
Read moreI spent $842 and change at this store buying furniture for my new apartment. One item, a queen bed, was sold to me with a hairline crack in the metal frame. The crack was on the underside of the frame and was hardly visible, but it was a critical flaw. If I hadn't caught it, the bed probably would have collapsed. I contacted the manager and told them that I was willing to repair the bed and keep it, but that I thought that, given the bed's compromised state and the time and money I was going to have to invest to fix it, the price I had payed ($180) was unreasonable. They refused to even give me some store credit to compensate me and just kept repeating that all items were sold "as is." I explained that I understood their policy, but that this particular item should've never made it to the sales floor in the first place and that I essentially payed for a bed that should've been in the city dump. They wouldn't waver. An email to another manager received no response. Needless to say, I'll never spend another penny here....
