Earlier this summer, the owner told us a long, detailed story about illegally collecting rocks from a protected beach in Oregon. He told us that the park ranger saw him & repeatedly told him you can't remove material from the beach & the shop owner said he repeated "Thank you" & kept walking, putting the BAGS (his words) of rocks in his car & leaving with them. He thought this was a funny story. I think it's vile. He's stealing from all of us in the PNW when he steals from a protected beach.
The store had minimal raw rocks, no rock tumbling supplies & almost no local stones, this would be more accurately called a crystal shop. Two stars for the large collection of carved rocks & he gave really excellent customer service to kids. I went for the first time a couple of days ago, excited to find a new rock shop, but not really expecting it to be THIS GOOD. They have polished material, but along with the old favorites, lots of unique minerals that you don't often see made into towers, spheres, and freeforms. They also have A TON of excellent mineral specimens all the way from small thumbnail size to huge statement pieces. The variety really impressed me.
The owners are extremely nice, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. I had as much fun talking "rock nerd" with Dave as I did actually shopping. This store is an absolute treasure to...
