Today at TJ Maxx, we had a very disappointing experience with an unprofessional and seemingly unhappy employee. A lady with purple pinkish hair. While we were looking at a glass kettle, she approached our 12-year-old daughter and told her to stop touching things or she would be kicked out. Instead of addressing us, who were only a few feet away, she chose to speak directly to our child in an inappropriate and accusatory tone.
When I overheard this, I asked the employee what the issue was, but she ignored me and quickly walked away. Confused and concerned, we followed her to try to understand the problem, as our daughter was not touching anything. However, the employee rushed to the back of the store and didnât return.
At checkout, we asked to speak with a manager to explain what had happened. The person we spoke toâwho appeared to be the supervisor on dutyâdismissed the situation by saying, âWell, we had a complaint about kids throwing things in the home section, so she probably got confused.â We couldnât help but notice that other children in the area, were also Latino like us.
This entire incident made us feel racially profiled, which is both disheartening and frustrating. The employee never returned to apologize or clarify her actions, and the managementâs response felt dismissive and inadequate.
TJ Maxx needs to seriously improve its employee training, especially when it comes to professionalism and sensitivity. Based on how we were treated, it feels as though customers like us are not welcome, so we will not...
Read moreI hardly ever leave bad reviews but the associate helping us with a very simple return and purchase some how managed to make the experience very unpleasant. Laurel C. We were nice and patient but she still felt the need to have a rude demeanor. Iâve worked for the company previously and have never once seen someone behave the way she did. Retail isnât for everyone. It wasnât just her tone but the entire interaction, eye rolls, body language, all just bad. Truly donât understand maybe just a bad day but every time Iâve visited this store itâs obvious itâs a slow store so donât understand why someone would be so upset and clearly unhappy to work there. This employee doesnât represent or practice any of the TJX values. The rest of the employees seemed normal which makes sense as to why the rating here is fairly decent. Hope it was just a bad day and not a true representation of...
Read moreClothes selection for young men was okay. I think it was my timing as we went after school had already started. But we still picked up several nice shirts and jeans. Found the cutest pair of tennis shoes and several Korean beauty products that I like at an insanely good price. But my big reason for the 5 stars was because of the lady who checked us out. When we walked up, she said, "Hey!" Like she knew who we were (but we're just visiting, so that wasn't it). Then we had a bottle of fragrance that was missing the top and without any prompting (I hadn't even considered asking) she called a manager and asked for a discount. I need to look to see what her name was just so I can send a message to the manager. But she made TJ...
