K&G Fashion Superstore — Local services in Orland Township

I recently had a deeply disappointing experience at K&G Fashion Superstore that has left me feeling compelled to share my story. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The customer service was abysmal, and the way I was treated as a customer was nothing short of disrespectful.

I had purchased three pairs of shoes, each priced around $20. After consulting with my podiatrist, I learned that I needed to invest in higher-quality footwear, which I subsequently bought at $170 a pair. Knowing that I had only worn the K&G shoes once to try them out, I decided to return them. I understood that not having a receipt made this a long shot, but I hoped for at least some consideration.

When I approached the store representative, the interaction was disheartening. She wouldn’t even look me in the eye, making me feel as if I were bothering her. Instead of addressing my concerns, she turned to another associate who was preparing to leave for the bathroom, completely ignoring me. When she finally examined the shoes, she pointed out that one pair had a rock stuck in the sole and declared, “I can’t do anything with these.” She then pushed the shoes back toward me and walked away, leaving me shocked and embarrassed.

What was most upsetting was the lack of basic courtesy. I have spent thousands of dollars at K&G over the years, purchasing suits, dress shirts, ties, shoes, coats, and more for myself and my family. While I know the quality isn't always the best, I have continued to shop there because of the affordability and occasional deals. However, this experience has completely changed my view.

I didn’t expect a full refund, and I would have understood if they had simply said, “Sir, we appreciate your patronage, but unfortunately, we cannot refund your money.” Acknowledging my loyalty could have made a world of difference. Even a partial credit would have been appreciated. Instead, the way I was treated felt like an accusation, as if I were trying to pull a scam.

This encounter has made me reconsider my shopping habits. If K&G had taken the time to treat me with respect, I would have continued to shop there and recommended them to others. Instead, I feel compelled to warn potential customers: if you value your dignity and self-worth, avoid K&G Fashion Superstore. I know I will.

In the end, the $60 you treated me like a criminal over may seem insignificant, but it will cost you thousands in lost business. I hope this review serves as a cautionary tale for others. Buyers beware: if you want to be treated like a valued customer,...

I came in on Saturday in the middle of a snowstorm 45 min from my house to purchase my son a suit needed for Sunday. I decided to go ahead and spend 100 so I could us a coupon. I didn't need the extra items I just figured might as well spend extra since I'm here to make the drive worthwhile. I get to the register and the young lady assisting us proceds to inspect the suit as if I'm smuggling stolen good in in. After a through inspection she has to call over her manager to further inspect it. After the consultant the manager removes the vest that was on the hanger with the suit because apparently it didn't go to it. I didn't put it there!!! PLUS it was like that on the AND marked down because it was size mismatched and without the tie and shirt. I let that go. Next I had to ask the cashier to honor the clearly listed marked down price, she had to call her manager over to do that. Finally when I asked to use my coupon since my total before taxes was over 100, the manager was called over again!!! And she said nope yoi can't use that because all items need to be regular price and you have clearance and or marked down items on your purchase. I said the text coupon does not state that, and instead over her reading the text and honoring the coupon she just said we'll the computer says otherwise and was done. And guess what so was I. I told we spend good money everytime we come here and I let your dry attitudes and every every reason under the sun not honor any coupons slide. Not tonight, I'm not purchasing anything and I left. Yes my 5 year old son cried on the spot on front of them because he wanted his suit and shiny shoes. But I had to teach my young male child a lesson. Your money and time is precious. Do spend it where your not respected or valued as a customer. You have the financial power to shut whole businesses down by not shopping with them and spreading the word so others with be aware and go else where. For as many black customer this location get K and G should treat us better. I've seen many occasions at this location where the cashier treats as burdensome. I've attached a screen shot to the coupon texts I get and there are clearly two different coupons, one from this weekend when I went and one from today. Read the difference. Went in with expectations of buying a couple suits some shoes shirts, looking to spend around 500.00. I walk in, start looking, and have difficulty trying to see what size suit jacket fits best. . There were Floor people there, i was able to spot them due to measuring tape hanging from their neck . Normally, in that type of environment, theres someone ready to offer help or assistance. So again i try to do it my own, to not be a bother. After about 25 to 30.minutes of being there and trying, and no one noticing me(not that busy) . A woman of color walks in, BAM! Not even in the door 5 minutes and the floor help ran to her, I figured ok, maybe they think im ok. So now I continue to look around trying to summon some help, then 2 guys ( again, poc) that were there AFTER ME looking for suits or dress wear for a funeral (I overheard them talking) get swooped up by the other floor person to help. Now I already had a had a couple shirts and a fedora, and I just wanted to look for at least 2 suits and possibly a couple pairs of shoes. And I get overlooked (BASICALLY IGNORED) for THE SECOND TIME!! Poor service. It seems that the color of my skin was more important than the color of MY MONEY!!!. I had worked retail for over 30 years, managing, working with the public and I assure the only color I ever saw was green. OBVIOUSLY, THAT WAS NOT THE CASE HERE TODAY. And it wasn't that they were busy with other customers, they were SLOW AND DEAD during the time i was there.. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!. I GOT ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED, I LEFT EVERYTHING IN MY CART, AND WENT TO KOHLS NEXT DOOR AND DROPPED OVER 200 DOLLARS!!!!!! which was SIGNIFICANTLY LESS than WHAT I INTENDED TO SPEND! ! Next time, dont PREJUDGE your customers, it just cost you a sale..!!!...
