Their dresses may be beautiful, but the staff are rude! And, after seeing half of their reviews, I can see that it's not a "one-off" situation where I can be understanding that someone was just having a bad day. My daughters went in to shop for the first time for their dresses. Until now, they had just ordered online. It's still early, so they were not intending to buy today, just looking for that perfect dress. The cashier began questioning them about whether they were going to buy a dress. They were not, so she kept on them the entire time they were there, asking intrusive questions and saying rude things. My girls are now well aware of their "policy" that a customer is only allowed to try on three dresses. They were asked to stop trying them on in order to make room for the people who were in there to actually buy a dress. Even my younger daughter, who clearly isn't old enough to wear any of them and who was bonding with her big sister by holding dresses for her outside the fitting room, was put off by the questions she was being asked. I don't know what this woman's intentions were, but the way she took it was a warning not to even think about trying on a dress. That's a magical first impression on a young girl, don't you think? I'm left wondering, why would anyone ASK if a customer intends to purchase a dress? It's rude! They were not mishandling these garments, they were genuinely finding a dress for prom. And if they're so worried about the goddesses being damaged (when you are marketing to that EXACT audience), why have fitting rooms? Are they not intended to be tried on?? Was it maybe that the staff here makes premeditated judgements about customers and their budgets and then acts upon them?? Seems very "stuck up" (to quote another reviewer of this shop) to me. And the responses are very obviously condescending, not at all genuine. The old "I'll pray for you" vibe.
I'll let you know what. My beautiful daughter found the most amazing dress. She's in love with it. I fully intended on buying it for her because she was humble enough to offer to look somewhere else for a less expensive one. She knows her momma has the money, but is smart with it. I wanted to gift it to her until I heard the awful way they were treated at this store. And I'm not giving any company with that much disrespect and entitlement a dime of my money. Unbelievable experience they had here. Do...
Read moreTabu Knits is a lovely gem of a boutique! I stumbled across this store when Jetblue lost my luggage and I had to find a formal dress for a wedding I was attending. Right before finding Tabu Knits, I popped into Nordstrom where the sales associates were incredibly rude. However, when I got to Tabu Knits, I was greeted with a smile and an amazing sales associate who pulled several lovely dresses for me and gave me input like she was an old friend. She was so sweet. I wish I got her name! I showed up to the wedding in a lovely dress and got so many compliments on my last minute outfit.
Fast forward to a month later: Jetblue was going to reimburse me for my dress because they lost my luggage but they didn't accept the first receipt as proof of purchase. They said I needed to get a letter from the store that I bought the dress at. ( I know.) I reached out to Tabu Knits and MaryAnn, the owner was incredibly understanding and kind and sent over a letter that SAME day I called her. And it was a Sunday! She was so kind, understanding, and so fast in helping me. She didn't need to do this at all but she did it! I am so grateful to MaryAnn and her lovely staff. When I come back to KS for a visit, I definitely will be stopping by again. They have an amazing selection of outfits I wish I had time to look through if I weren't in such a time crunch. I hope other Kansans visit...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at Tabu Bride & Formal Wear. I booked an appointment for 11:30 AM to try on wedding dresses and brought friends along to make the day special. Unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations.
When we arrived, the owner — who was supposed to bring in the new bridal inventory — was not there. We were told she would be in within five minutes, but after waiting for over an hour, she never showed up. The staff on-site seemed completely unprepared and disorganized. For a bridal appointment, which should feel exciting and special, the service was shockingly unprofessional.
To make matters worse, the shop itself was not clean, and instead of offering refreshments like most bridal boutiques do, we were handed bottles of water from Price Chopper — it just felt lazy and thoughtless.
This was supposed to be a memorable and joyful moment in my wedding planning, but it was frustrating and disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this boutique to other brides looking for a professional and welcoming...
