â ïž Important Note on Ratings: As of this writing, Target carries a 1.6 star average on Trustpilot. In my view, that figure is not representative of Targetâs actual customer experience. Industry observers â including journalists, businesses, and consumers â have raised repeated concerns that Trustpilotâs moderation and rating system may disproportionately disadvantage companies that do not purchase its paid business packages. While I cannot claim to know Trustpilotâs internal practices with certainty, there is extensive public documentation and anecdotal evidence suggesting that its âpay-to-playâ model contributes to artificially low scores for some non-paying companies.
For that reason, I recommend readers treat the Trustpilot average with caution and compare Targetâs performance across multiple independent sources before drawing conclusions.
Target deserves five stars for one simple reason: they did exactly what they promised.
They ran a promotion â spend $50, get $50 when opening a Target Circle Card. I signed up in August, made my purchases in September, and it worked exactly as advertised. No tricks, no fine print games, no hidden exclusions. Just straightforward delivery.
It might sound unusual to praise a company for âjust doing what they said,â but in todayâs marketplace that level of reliability is rare. Target earned my trust by proving they donât need gimmicks â they...
Read moreMy daughter went to spend her birthday money last night and found a toy marked $9.99 but got to the self checkout and it rang up $19.99. Ran back to make sure we didnât misunderstand the signage and snapped a pic to take to customer service and see if they would honor. Stood at the customer service desk for probably about 5 minutes while 2 workers stood about 5 feet away and continued to chat. Finally Cindi turned towards me and rudely said âWHAT?!â I was shocked at the rudeness and let visibly made a face of confusion. She then rudely said âYou can just check out at a self checkout out.â I explained that I attempted to use the self check out and explained the pricing issue. She used her walkie talkie to talk with another worker and asked him to check about their error. He radioed back and said âyes, someone put all of that one toy in the incorrect spotâ with the same toys tag but an older version of the toy. He told her to just honor the price listed. As she went to change the price she started saying âYou know we donât have to do this for you. Our policy changed and is posted over there. You can go look.â I just said âthatâs okay.â And she huffed and rolled her eyes at me. Cindis lack of customer service while standing at the customer service desk just...
Read moreSunday afternoon at 1:00 I walked out of your store empty-handed. There were zero cashiers available so everyone had to use the self-checkout. And out of the self-check outs, two of them were out of order. So everyone in the store was waiting to check out between two different self-checkout stations. Once I got up to my turn after waiting for quite a long time because the line was very, very long, I needed assistance and pushed the button for help because the item that I was purchasing, or at least attempting to purchase, that was for under $10 was ringing up for $36. The woman next to me had been there for quite a while and she had been waiting on help, but to no avail. No one was coming. And there was no one to flag down to ask for help. Behind me were 13 people (and growing) also waiting for their turn at one of the two self-checkout stations. I fail to understand why Target thinks they don't need any staffing on a Sunday afternoon, especially when you know that the weather is going to be really nice and people are going to be out shopping. Surely with the amount of money people spend there you could afford to hire enough cashiers - or ANY...
